Motorola Unveils MotoSURF A3100

Smartphone Is Powered By Window Mobile 6.1 Pro

After iPhone 3G and BlackBerry Strom, now its Motorola turn to roll out its own touch-screen smartphone highley concentrating on Mobile Web.

The MotoSURF A3100 is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, but the company has layered a user interface that is more finger friendly. This UI give users one-click access to multiple applications that can launch e-mail programs, weather report and many more other online features.

"We developed the MotoSURF A3100 as a true social smartphone," said John Cipolla, senior VP of product development for Motorola, in a statement. "Home screen personalization and access to a whole host of applications gets the info you want -- fast, and at your fingertips."

The A3100 also can also be a useful device for the mobile professional as it receive push corporate e-mail and instant messaging. Users can surf the Web with the intsalled Wi-Fi, or use HSDPA 3G cellular networks for up to 7.2 Mbps downlink speeds. A GPS chip for navigation, geotagging photos and other location-based services.

A good deal of entertainment features are provided by handset, as it can play multiple audio and video codecs. No compromise is done in memory section, as there's is a microSD card slot for expanding the built-in flash memory of 512 MB with up to 16 GB. A camera of 3.2 megapixel is there which can snap photos and take videos, and a front-facing camera for video calls.

The 2.8" QVGA inch touch screen with a trackball for naviation, at 4.3-by-2.4-by-.5 inches, the A3100 is similar in size to other devices in its class. Company said that smartphone would be available in first quarter in the Asian and Latin market, and then will look ahead. Thou, company did not give a price.
