Mountain Dew Recipes

You can't miss that glow-in-the-dark shade of yellow. Mountain Dew is a unique and popular soft drink that I personally remember fondly from my childhood. It was always on hand at my grandparents house.
It's great mixed in all kinds of other drinks (alcoholic and otherwise) but I thought I'd share some Mountain Dew recipes that aren't beverages this week.
Mountain Dew Apple Cobbler
- 2 apples
- 2 cans crescent rolls
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups Mountain Dew
Preheat oven to 350F. Green apples are best for this recipe. Peel, core and slice into eighths. Wrap each piece of apple in a segment of crescent roll dough. Place wrapped apples in greased baking dish. Melt butter and stir in sugar until dissolved. Spread over apples. Pour Mountain Dew over everything and do not stir. Bake for approximately 45 minutes, uncovered.
Mountain Dew Cake
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 4 eggs
- 1 pkg instant vanilla pudding
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup Mountain Dew
Preheat oven to 325F. Mix everything together until good and blended. Pour into greased bundt cake pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes.
Mountain Dew Jelly
- 3 ¼ cups Mountain Dew
- 2 tbs lemon juice
- 4 ½ cups sugar
- 1 pkg jelly pectin
Mix Mountain Dew and lemon juice is a saucepan. Bring to a boil, and let leave boiling for about 3 minutes. Let the mixture cool slightly. Then follow the directions on the pectin package (that's where the sugar will come in). Process the jars for 10 minutes in a boiling water bath.
My grandmother gave me this recipe, and I've not tried it. I don't have a version that doesn't involve the boiling water canning step. That's for people wanting to seal up their jars to use the jelly later. You should be able to skip the water bath if you plan on using the jelly right away. You might have to experiment with that one.
Mountain Dew is a registered trademark of the Pepsi-Cola Company, a division of PepsiCo, Inc.

I must confess. I have never in my life had even a sip of Mountain Dew. It never appealed to me. Could be the glow-in-the-dark color.
The Mountain Dew cobbler recipe really looks good. Do the wrapped apples come out something like a dumpling?
