Mounting a Flat Screen Television on a Wall

Most of us have flat screens these days. One of the good things about a flat screen television is that you can mount them on the wall should you so wish. It may sound easy but you do want to follow some simple steps to ensure you do it right. This hub will help you.

How to Mount a Flat Screen Television on a Wall

There is two main types of wall mounts for flat screen televisions.

The first of these is a swivel mount. A swivel mount allows your television to pan up and down on the wall. This allows you to adjust the angle thus giving you a better angle of watching depending on the distance you are planning to be in during your television time.

The second type of mount is a flat mount. Like the name suggest this type of mount will keep your television stationary and flat against the wall.

You do need to make sure that you are getting the right size of mount for your television. Do your measurements and read the labels.

Decide on the area of wall that you would like to mount your television on. It is best if you choose a section of wall that has a few studs so you can mount your wall bracket into them.

Now mark out the area you will be working with. You need to be careful with your measurements to center your television or place it however you would like it. With the wall mount you are going to use place it against the area where you will mount it. Now using a level you need to make sure the mount is level as you do not want your television to be crooked. Mark the screw holes.

Get someone to hold the mount in place while you screw it on.

Check that you have screwed the mount on securely. You can check this by giving the mount a good tug.

Using the brackets that the mount would have come with place in the back of your television at the hard mounting points. Locate the holes in the back of your television where you may mount the brackets and do so with a screwdriver or wrench depending on the bolts provided.

Get someone to help you and move the television into place. When the television is in place, it should be completely flat against the wall.
