Jerry (Jack Black) is a lovable goofball who aspires to great things but tends to mess everything up. Case in point-he unintentionally gets himself magnetized. Worse yet, before he realizes what has happened, he enters the video store where his best friend Mike (Mos Def) works. As everyone knows, magnets antagonize VHS tapes and erase them.

This beginning to the movie is pretty long and drawn out, but it is followed by some of the funniest movie footage in the past few years. Jerry and Mike decided that they can keep their few customers happy by remaking the patrons' purchases into 20-minute remakes starring themselves. More wacky hijinx ensue when their videos end up becoming the hottest commodity in their neighborhood.

The film takes a serious note when it becomes known that Mr. Fletcher (Morgan Freeman), the owner of the shop, must make $60,000 in repairs or be shut down. Jerry and Mike now start making movies to save the store.

Be Kind Rewind shows itself to be an uplifting, good-natured comedy with lots of genuine laughs. If you are watching it with yours kids, you can talk to them about themes like following your dreams, importance of hard work and the idea of community. Or, you all can just sit back and have a good laugh.
