If there ever was a movie about triumph and the human spirit, then it is this movie--'Ben X' (2007). The main character of this movie, Ben--has Asperger's Syndrome. Everyone notices that Ben--is different. He fell victim to bullying from many of his peers. His parents made many attempts to 'normalize' Ben, by taking him to specialist, one after the other until finally his Asperger's diagnoses.
Now, what is it with people, who are a little different--respond to situations of adversity find means to accomplish the unimaginable? Ben found gaming as his escape. The only way to cope with people--his reality--was the role playing game, 'Archlords' ™. There he met the girl of his dreams, 'Scarlite' played by actress Laura Verlinden.
Not only is Ben the highest ranked player in Archlords ™, he uses the game to sort of 'prepare' himself for the real world and his real world situations. Things quickly turn into chaos when his tormentors go to far to punish Ben for being different. Ben has to devise a plan--a plan to show the world what is it like to be bullied, what it is like to be-- different. From his point of view. He had to have his end from bulling. His end game. How will Ben do it? Will his bullies prevail? What importance does Scarlite plays in Ben's end game?
Well, you will only have to sit back and watch his story unfold. I promise you--you will not believe the ending. If you are thinking that this is only a movie for gamers--you are mistaken. There is a 'Ben X' in all of us--the only difference is--we can choose our realities more freely.
'No one ever listens--until somebody dies.'
