I had to take a bit of a break from the high drama, revenge and romance movies--and I delved deep into my foreign movie collection to find the most hilarious movie that I have seen an a long time. I was curious because of the title of the movie --and I was drawn into watching it because of all the foreign films I have collected--I was curious as to why this one was still in the wrapper!

Have you ever played the lottery? If you have, then you can understand the extreme frustration of just wishing you would win! The the things you would buy and the trips you would take. Such torture of the inevitable the lottery puts you through. You know what would be worse? Knowing someone who has won--and did not include you to a share of the winnings!

What would you do in a situation like that? I may have an answer--meet Jakie O'Shea (Ian Bannen)--he has played the Irish National lottery every week for years on end and never won once. But someone in the tiny town of Tully More did. So in order for Jakie to find out exactly who won--he and his wife Annie (Fionnula Flanagan) came up with a plan to find the winner by creating some merry making! Hosting chicken suppers, free rounds at the local pub--and whenever it were asked as to why the festivities and if Jakie and his wife Annie won the lottery--Jakie would only reply:

"no, but if I had--you would be most welcomed to a share of the winnings."

awww, how nice =D

Now after all that chicken and spirits; someone had yet to come forward as the winner. Curious Jakie was--who was it? Who in the small village of Tully More won nearly 7 million pounds? Of everyone who joined the O'Shea's in merry making--one person was still missing: Ned Devine. Jakie and his best friend Michael O'Sullivan (David Kelly) decide to check in on Ned. They found him--ticket in hand--and dead from shock! Now what to do? Well commit forgery of course! In order for this to work, Jakie and Michael need to get the cooperation of all the locals of Tully More to deceive the lottery official. Of course in movies like these, there is always someone who never goes along with a good plan and just would do anything to ruin such happiness for everyone. Of course, I could tell you how it all went--but I won't. I will just leave the rest of the movie for you to enjoy for yourself.

Waking Ned Devine a really good foreign comedy. Go on--rent it, buy it--watch it and enjoy. You won't be disappointed.

'Finally. A comedy that will make you feel like a million bucks!'

Hello My lady! The movie was filmed in Cregneash, Isle of Man! I have seen this island on the map and wondered what the landscapes looked like and after google searching--beautiful! I would love to visit there some day. Please enjoy the movie--it is such a pleasant comedy, I am sure you will love it.
