Legendary hip hop DJ John “Mr. Magic” Rivas died of a heart attack this morning.  Mr Magic was also called in his music circle by Nas, Biggie and Tupac.  

Mr. Magic was the first DJ to bring rap music to a major radio station, he kicked off Rap Attack in 1983 on WBLS-FM (107.5)in New York City. For the next six years, Mr. Magic was a key figure in bringing true hip-hop to the airwaves. Mr. Magic also appeared in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
