He was also the first swimmer to ever qualify for six individual events at one Olympiad. At the age of 15, Michael Phelps became the youngest swimmer to make the U.S. National Olympic Team since 1932. In 2001, he became the youngest male swimmer ever to set a world record breaking the previous best time in the 200-meter butterfly.
