These are pictures taken from my previous trip to the Lake District in Cumbria England. Featured here is a kind of domestic castle which was bascially built as a grand house instead of a fortress.

This castle has a really interesting composition and geometry. Its red color is also very unique too. This castle looks especially like the one in Smallville.

Actually, this castle is most famous for being one of the most haunted houses in Britain.

Info below is from http://www.wikipedia.org/

Muncaster Castle is a privately owned castle overlooking the Esk river, about a mile south of the west-coastal town of Ravenglass in Cumbria, England.

Built on foundations dating to the Roman era, the site was originally selected by the Romans as the place from which to guard the Esk River ("Muncaster" contains the Latin word castra, meaning "encampment", or "fort").[1] It is currently owned by the Pennington family, who have lived at Muncaster for at least 800 years, the land being granted to Alan de Penitone in 1208. The oldest parts of the castle include the Great Hall and the 14th century pele tower, a type of watch-tower fortification unique to the English-Scottish border region.

Muncaster Castle has also acquired a reputation for being one of the most haunted houses in Britain. Purportedly the ghosts of Tom Fool as well as Mary Bragg make many unscheduled appearances.

Come now, how did old "Tom Fool" go out. There is a haunted castle near my city that stems from a Duke who murdered his wife and then bricked her shut inside the walls...Or at least, that's what they say.
