My 10 dollar a year dot com
51Well, Mortimas.com launched today. Actually it has been launched for a year or so. I have been active with the internet since its inception, actually I have been around since 1985 when we had to call bbs boards through our commodore 64s add on modems. I knew how to fabricate a 2600 tone to take over phone lines, I knew how to get free long distance by hacking passcodes (statute of limitations in effect I hope). But all in all I was never more than a user, basic knowledge of how to get where I wanted to go and use others ideas and technology for my own gain. Well I still do it that way, I use hubpages to write hubs and try to generate revenue, I will add that I do not consider myself in the top 200 hubbers as far as good content, I am amazed at some of your abilities here and elsewhere. I put articles up on squidoo to drive traffic to programs that make me money, I sell crap from clickbank and cj.com, I use ebay to sell my unwanted items. I look at porn sites and am amazed at the traffic these generate and can imagine most of these webmasters make a lot of money, I could not host a porn site myself. I have learned a lot since july 07 when I decided to see how much money I could make for free on the internet and I did pretty good, but there is the problem, most of my blogger pages are geared towards the money making aspect of the web and get very little search engine traffic let alone adsense clicks, I realized that good content about things like my dog get more clicks, check out jimmy the jocks hubs for good examples of good content (sorry everyone else, he turned me on to hubpages a while back) Throw your link in the comments if you want to jimmy.
I finnaly decided to go dot com and started researching all the hosting places and this and that, hostgator, godaddy, and a slew of others. Like I said, I have always been a user and never good on the technical side of the game, so when I did the demos offered on the sites I became lost and frustrated. What I do know is blogger, I figured them out and find them easy to use, so instead of paying 6.95 a month plus 10 bucks to get a name, I just bought mortimas.com from godaddy and redirected to the old site. Hooray, I have a dot com and it is really a blogspot, after I took out the blogger header, it looks like a regular site, you be the judge if you do not mind. By the way, the money crap will be slowly taken over with web reviews. btw, 10 bucks through google checkout bought the name.
