Who says halloween is all about looking scary?

Ditch the corpse bride costume (and possibly any chances of humiliation)and go all out sexy, cutesy and enchanting this halloween. Though you can as an angel, lucifer's sexy assistant or even be Paris hilton and tote around a Tinkerbell wannabe, still, you can't go wrong with some of these fuzz free no brainer costumes. :)

How to snag this look

  1. Rent a wedding gown, preferrably an off shoulder one with a full lace skirt, a net bustle at the back (or you can just add that up by sewing it on the gown itself). Wear a corset underneath for a little "lift". Go for a soft pink hue or the white one.
  2. iron swarovski crystals (or those stick on crystal stickers you buy in the mall) on the skirt. Doesn't matter if you make star shapes or scatter the crystals. The point is to add a little glimmer on the skirt.
  3. crystal chandelier earrings
  4. For the hair: Perm: Ask for a the "sausage" barrel. Then lots of anti-friz serum. Blow dry with a diffuser attached. Curls: If you just want a temporary look than a medium barrel curling iron should suit you. Also, if you could get a small barrel as well to mix in with the medium it will look more authentic.
  5. accessorize hair with a crystal head band.

Esmeralda the alluring gypsy

I love being Esmeralda for 3 simple reasons: 1. She kicks ass literally and otherwise, making her an epitome of "Girl Power" 2. It's easy for someone like me to snag her look since I got wavy/curly hair and a natural tan. 3. It's so easy to snag th

how to snag this look with a more contemporary twist

All you need are:

  • a plain white off shoulder peasant top
  • a full bohemian skirt
  • big silk scarves with lots of details (in lavender, turquoise or in earthy or berry tones)
  • a velvet or silk sash

  • a corset in turquoise or black (click here for a step by step procedure on making a corset.)
  • hoop earrings in gold or wood

  • a tambourine
  • wooden or golden bangles
  • a quartz or turqouise ring (the big ones.)
  • the goat is optional.
  • ballet flats in black, embellished sandals or camel colored boots (i prefer the ballet flats)
  1. wear the sash on your hair as a headband
  2. limit the bangles to 2 big ones per hand or 5 thin ones per hand.
  3. wear the corset over your peasant top. Though any color for the corset would do, sky blue and black are the safest, provided you're opting to replicate the Disney esmeralda. let the sleeves of your peasant top fall off naturally for that ooh la la sexy effect.
  4. layer the scarf over your bohemian skirt. You don't exactly have to follow everything from the Disney version but just make sure the color of the scarf sorta compliments the color of the skirt. a cute combination would be: black and burgundy, dark violet and lavender. If you're opting for a patterned scarf, make sure the skirt is in a plain solid colors. patterns over patterns tend to be too distracting.

  5. i'd go for black ballet flats for foot wear.
  6. for make up, opt for earthy and berry tones. add some bronzer too. a little shimmer won't hurt and emphasize on the eyes. Use Black kohl liner and 2 coats of mascara.

  7. for your hair:
  • shampoo and condition
  • use some leave on after towel drying hair for protection
  • add some mousse
  • finger comb your hair
  • flip head and use diffuser and fingers to dry hair. (this is to add a little lift to hair.)

  • divide hair into sections
  • roll front, sides and top into medium barrel rollers (heated rollers are perfect but the ordinary ones will do)
  • let it set for about 15-30 minutes
  • apply some hair spray

Daisy Duke

I'd sum up this costume into 5 simple words: sexy, simple, easy to duplicate

how to snag this look

For the hair:

Bleaching a la Jessica Simpsons blonde mane is not necessary. All you have to do is add some waves for a little oomph. Tip head to blow dry while finger combing (don't forget to add some leave on conditioner and mousse). add some curls with a curling iron. finish with a spritz of hairspray.

As for the clothes:

The signature daisy duke shorts needs no purchasing. Just cut out some old pair of jeans, brush off the rough ends with a toothbrush. Get a plaid button up shirt and tie it in a knot above the navel. Finish off with a pair of cowboy boots and yeee haw... :)

back to school drama.

whether you opt for the Blair waldorf Schoolgirl look or the kinky anime schoolgirl variety, you have to remember these must haves in achieving the school girl look.

  • the plaid and pleated mini skirt that barely covers your deriere
  • the knee high socks. White is okay but black is more school girl-ish
  • the baby doll shoes. (If you're into the whole naughty school girl look, go crazy with the platform pumps)
  • the cropped solid white button up top.
  • the coordinating neck tie (must be with the same pattern as the mini skirt)
  • a cute black vest
  • the fitting black cardigan with a school seal is optional.
  • the stick straight hair

I can't agree more. Halloween is not JUST about being gothic and scary. It's about living the fantasy and a break from the monotonous daily fun.
