The Acer Aspire One is a great buy for the avid internet user on the go.  I purchased one a few months ago to replace my 5.5 pound laptop. I got to the point where it was too much of a hastle to carry that laptop around.

The Acer netbook comes in several different colors at an affordable price.  Its portability is where the true value is.  Though this netbook is not the most powerful out there it is the most economical.  I picked mine up for $261.00 shippeed to my house from www.tigerdirect.com.

Performance

  • 1.6GHz Atom N270
  • 1GB DDR2 SDRAM
  • 1.3 Megapixel camera, SDHC and multi-format media readers
  • 802.11b/g, Ethernet, three USB 2.0, VGA, and 3.5mm audio out
  • 160GB hard drive (2.2 pounds)

Functionality

My netbook is great for on the go usability. I carry it with me to class or wherever I may need it. My girlfriend also has one and she can carry it inside her purse no problem. It comes loaded with Windows XP Home edition which is all you really need. If you plan on using memory hogging software then you may want to stick with your more powerful full size laptop. These netbooks were designed to surf the net and they accomplish this wonderfully.

I also chose this netbook because it is the smallest one I found with an 8.9" screen.  Wether you end up purchasing this netbook or another one you will not be disappointed.  Just remember that these netbooks were not built to run huge processes as they only come with 1 GB of memory.

Good luck in your search for the ultimate netbook for the money. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
