My Acne Story
66and I've heard many myths about acne
There are many different myths about what causes acne. They could all be true, and they could all be false. The one thing that's certain is that acne is directly correlated to what goes into, or stays in your body. I've had major acne 3 times in my life. The first time I had acne I was 13 years old, just as I was going through one of the biggest transitional stages in my life. Puberty. Once I made tons of friends and let go of the stress that comes with being 13, my acne disappeared on its own.
I got it again when I was 24. That is also when I came out of the closet and was dealing majorly with accepting something about myself that I viewed as pure evil. Being gay. The 3rd time I got acne was just recently. Divorce. It has only been a few months that I've had a clear face aside from the scars from picking at my face. I am now 32 years old and I've had this acne -off and on- for almost 3 years. It would seem as if stress was the only factor, though the thing I haven't mentioned is my diet and that I overeat when I'm stressed. I grew up with Carl's Jr, candy, and Pizza as a major part of my diet. At the age of 27, I developed a wheat and dairy allergy from the excessive amounts that I would take in. I found my own cure to acne through the other symptoms I was having from wheat and dairy.
It was my gynecologist that told me to get off of dairy because I had constant headaches, fevers, and was developing cysts in my ovaries - I found out that cow milk is directly connected to ovarian cancer. Another Dr. and nutritionist told me to stay away from wheat as I had a sinus infection, acid reflux and had a swollen body from wheat. The only time I ever break out now, is when I have wheat or dairy. Mostly wheat.
That is my personal experience and some people have a higher tolerance to certain foods than others. Either way, if you've got acne you might want to consider the things you put in your body, or the emotions you hold onto. Things you ingest could be the food you eat, drugs you take, drinks, things you inhale or even things that make contact with your skin. For instance; your hands are never clean enough to touch your face, or second-hand smoke, dirt and smog... being clean on the inside as well as the outside. I'm no doctor, I simply do my own research and do what works for me. I didn't use any special creams or acne products. I simply stopped, or minimized the intake of what I know doesn't work well with my body.
