Bio Oil Review!
64I was first introduced to Bio Oil about some years ago. My sister had recommended this product after she had her baby and she left her with unsightly stretch marks that refused to move, even with recommended stretch mark creams. When I was young I had a serious accident which left me with scars and be so young, I was very conscious of my appearance and refused to show my arms and legs after the scars of many operations.
At age 17, I had the world at my feet, I'm in my final year at school and study was difficult for my impending exams. As the review I had two part-time jobs, a couple of nights a week, I worked in our village shop and the weekend I was in the Territorial Army. I always wanted a career in the forces and it was a great way to get experience before you jump in without knowing much about it. It was while taking part in a gala weekend I suffered horrific injuries after erected plunged 25ft from a platform to use a slide of death. The fall resulted in my knee ruined after landing, and my right arm being broken in 3 places. I also suffered a fractured ankle in my hair.
At the hospital I underwent a 11-hour fusion of my knee with the help of a metal plate, and even for my arm. Because surgery is so invasive, I stayed with a large scar along the outside of my left leg, which measures about 7 "long. The one on my arm was slightly shorter, but still ugly. I also had a scar on my hip that I had to have skin grafts in all if I was in a kind of mess. Even if I had people left, right and center to say how pleased I was to still have my limbs, it is not much comfort for me at this time.
When I was younger, I hated wearing shorts and t-shirts during the summer, because I could not deal with people looking at me. My parents tried to persuade me to walk tall, but I did not have in me to face covered. The scars are very obvious and people do not watch - I think I would have been capable of better if people just asked what happened instead of treating me like a leper.
Nevertheless, a few years later, I met a new man, who is now my husband. He knew from the beginning of the extent of my injuries - he had been in the Territorial Army itself, but we had never crossed. We met through a friend and the rest is history as they say.
With our wedding plans going well, I start to panic to wear a short sleeved dress, we were to marry in Cyprus and it was inevitable that I would get a tan to show my scars more. It was about 6 months before the wedding, my sister has her bottle of bio oil and told me to start using it. He had worked for it if it does hurt me to try.
Bio Oil first appeared on the market in 1987 - he received a lot of press about its healing benefits particularly marked on the skin and has been widely studied during a period of 20 years. It contains a long list of vitamins and natural oils, working together for the renewal of damaged skin and protection against the elements that are known for our skin is aging prematurely.
As the treatment of scars, Bio Oil has many other uses, it can be used as a face cream every day, use your hands to provide extra moisture, add a few drops in your bath to give your skin a treat, and suffering from eczema can benefit from this product because it can also be very calm. My daughter suffers from dry skin and I find Bio Oil is brilliant in the fight against the problem.
My main use of Bio Oil was good for healing, so it worked? At the beginning I was very skeptical about using this treatment. I used other products that promised to improve the appearance of scars and none of them live up to their claims. Bio Oil was another of these products? Because my sister said he was working for her, I had to give it a go, if it uses something and it is not what it says on the box, you can hear a crowd so half convinced that I put to the test.
Appearance wise Bio-Oil can be compared to baby oil, it has the same consistency, is clear, as baby oil, and it is gratifying flagrance of flowers, not too overpowering. Think of the rosemary and lavender are blended together and you get the picture. I learned early on not to apply too little can go a long way, and not only that it tends to get a bit messy when paid into your hand.
Apply the oil from the skin and rub gently with your fingers. Your skin will feel icy about 5-10 minutes, but slowly the oil will absorb into your skin leaving a protective layer of your skin healthy and smooth to the touch. You can renew the oil throughout the day if you wish, and at the beginning I did a lot of coatings of Bio Oil to give the scar boost.
In the first weeks, I have not noticed a big difference if the redness had disappeared a little. It was about 3 months the line when I really noticed a big difference. The angry red scar was significantly reduced and a pale pink, it began to melt into my skin and I did not feel so bad about exposing my leg during the summer. Ok, the scars are still there, but they are easier to ignore and when the marriage has had on us, I was too wrapped up in all my scars to give a second thought.
Years later and I am very pleased with the results, the scar tissue has completely disappeared and blends perfectly with my skin. The scars are now silver in appearance, but not obvious enough to turn and look. The scar on the leg, which I was more conscious faded really well and only makes more visible when I have a tan.
I have used Bio Oil during my two pregnancies and I found it prevented the stretch marks appear, I think if people use it then get rid of scars, use during pregnancy can be beneficial, and for me it worked.
Even today, I have a bottle of bio oil in my cupboard, it works wonders for me and as I am prone to the odd place or two during the terrible period of months, a drop of this rapid my skin and there is no fear of scarring. Bio Oil is available in most chemists and costs in the region of £ 10 for a bottle of 60ml. However, I buy mine online, because it may work a little cheaper, but in all honesty, it is money well spent. I made my confidence that is priceless in monetary terms, and a bottle will last a bit like ages really go very far.
