My Face Surgery
56My Face Surgery
In 2000 I went on a cruise with my daughter. (The cruise itself is another story) When we got home I had the pictures developed and noticed that my eyelids were getting really droopy and really noticeable. I then scheduled a consult with a plastic surgeon. During the consult the surgeon also suggested a browlift, lower eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty for a bump on the bridge of my nose. I of course agreed, paid my deposit and scheduled the surgery.
The day of the surgery the hospital suggested that I have an over night stay due to the fact that I was having multiple surgeries. Best thing I did all day!
The surgery took over four hours and I don't remember much until the next day. All I remember is my family coming by and shocked by the way I looked. My sister-in-law said I scared my nephew for life. But he was only 2 months at the time, she just doesn't want to admit it was her. I also got up around 4am tried to make it to the bathroom, but ended up needing help because my eyelids where so swollen I could barely see. Could you imagine me at home?
Luckily my daughter stayed with me for a few days after the surgery. I needed help getting around and she had to feed me. On the third day I was feeling better and wanted to clean up, but I wasn't allowed to shower until the stitches came out...and that was 10 days post-op!
There were a few things the doc forgot to mention pre-op. One was that I needed more than 10 days off work. I had to go to work with scabs on the corners of my eyes after the stitches were removed. Second, scars from the stitch removal are still noticable today. Third, they cut me from ear to ear to do the browlift, I have knots in my head from the sutures and numbness on the top/sides of my head still today.
Also I have noticed that my eyelids are started to droop again..so it wasn't permanent. Will I have it done again? Would you?
