1) The University of North Carolina Tar Heels: 2009 NCAA Men's Basketball Champions.

Every time that the Tar Heels have won a championship in my lifetime, I've had a great year. I hope this year is no exception! Much love goes out to my boyz in Carolina Blue! I'm a Tar Heel born, I'm a Tar Heel bred...

(This guy's voice annoys me, but not many good highlight videos had been posted when I did my search. Just turn your volume off and bask in the greatness!)

Here's where I wish I'd been after the game:

2) Dr. Mario on Wii.

A friend of mine got a Wii like a month ago and I was insta-addicted to Rock Band and Super Mario World. However, I was a bit hesitant to tackle the classic Dr. Mario. It would have been wise for me to have stuck with that hesitation because now I'm in love like Rachel and Ross. It's like there's opium on those controls! I get the shakes when I haven't played in more than 24 hours. Somebody call a doctor, I'm going through withdrawals! I apologize for yet another lame joke.

3) Away We Go trailer. I'm a sucker for a love story, even if it involves a couple of lost losers whose only motivation to find direction is an alien creature growing in one of their bellies. The cast looks amazing and I absolutely love Allison Janney, especially when she's playing an off-beat character. I'll probably get sick of this trailer, since the release date is still months away. For now, I'm still enjoying it and so I thought I'd share my joy. (I tear up a little every time I watch it. I can't wait for those side-effects to wear off.)

4) NCIS. I'm extremely annoyed by how much I dig this show, and it's all Netflix instant queue's fault! I had seen a few episodes here and there when my elderly mother would force me to sit through marathons of it. It's a small price to pay to have such a comfy couch to recover from bouts with diseases like toomuchrumitis and ilovebeerbutnotthedayafterosis. Recently, I decided to work my way through season 6 in some of my abundant downtime and have sadly gotten attached to the sometimes-annoying characters. I'm into crime shows in general, so it seemed like a safe time-killer with no strings attached. Like, I love Law & Order, but it can get formulaic at times-like if there's a famous gueststar, you can almost be they had something to do with the crime. NCIS isn't as predictable (although I'm getting close to cracking their system), but their cases are different enough that each episode is kinda refreshing.

5) "Pale Blue Eyes" by The Velvet Underground. This song is from the Adventureland soundtrack, and I made a point of checking it into my mental hotel so I could look it up after returning home from the movie theater. Since that requires a bit of brain power, I deemed it worthy of today's favorite things.
