My Favorite Golf Courses

Believe it or not....

Okay - I have golfed at a fair number of courses in both Canada and the USA - well more Canada than the USA.

Of course as I mentioned in my other hub I won the Radium Hostsprings Open when I was 15 so it holds a special place in my heart - but it is not my favorite course.

Here are some of the nicer ones I have played on in Alberta and BC:

  • Radium Hot Springs
  • Fairmont Hot Springs
  • Christina Lake Resort
  • Banff
  • Kanaskis
  • Henderson Lake (Lethbridge)
  • Redwood Meadows
  • Valley Ridge
  • Carstairs
  • and many more I can't recall

All of these are beautiful courses - some really expensive to play at.

Before I continue - let me go off track and tell you a true story.

A few years ago we went on a trip to the United States in our Motorhome. On the way down we ended up in Palm Springs for a couple of days.

Now what is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Palm Springs? It better be GOLF. Well guess what. I didn't golf in Palm Springs. WHAT a MORON!

No - I don't have a good reason - and for the life of me I can't figure out why not. Oh well - I'm getting down that way again this year so if I get there the clubs are coming out.

Now - back to my original thought since my Choo Choo needs to get back on track...

Guess what my favorite golf course is (so far)? It is our local nine holer in Fort Macleod.

Now that may sound strange - but even my parents who have goled all over North America think it is one of the nicest courses they have ever seen. They have golfed really nice upscale courses like Pebble Beach.

Fort Macleod is not just an ordinary Golf Course though. It is the second oldest course in Western Canada - so as you might imagine it is very lush. The Greenkeepers do a very good job of keeping the greens perfect.

So you see - I don't have to go far to golf on a really nice Golf Course.

I'll post some more on here as I travel around this summer and golf in more places. Many of them will be in the United States.

I invite you to add your favorite course in the comments. If it is in the Western USA I may try it out this summer!

Happy Golfing
