My Four Year Old Can Read!
My Child was Only Three Years Old
When my first child was three years old we went to the park and met a group of the local homeschoolers. I had heard they met at this park every Thursday morning and went armed with an open mind. That day ended up changing our lives forever.
The book is, Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy lessons
I met a mom named Kim, who homeschooled her two young children. Her oldest daughter was four and was reading! With my child at three I could hope to have her reading by four too. She wrote down the name of the book she used, "Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy lessons". She told me how it was unlike other programs that used many mediums such as flash cards, tapes, and workbooks. This program was just one book. They're easy lessons, geared to teach children three to four years old how to read.
We Purchased the Book, and Off We Went
I went home, logged onto Amazon.com, found and purchased the book. Soon, our package arrived and we dove right in. I handed the book to my daughter with simple instructions an off she went. It teaches children to put their finger under each sound. The book teaches phonetics and sound combinations, and how to read "the fast way".
We had so much fun!
As a self starter I let her guide the way and her pace. We blazed through and within a month were on lesson 50. Moreover, my daughter was reading, and loving it. Every night we'd be reading Dr. Seuss in bed and hollering for dad to come hear how well she was reading. She completed the book and went on her own reading journey, leaving the book for her sister two years her junior.
Gift of Reading Later Handed Down to Little Sister
We were so excited when at 3 our youngest daughter took interest in the book. We stayed on lesson 1-10 till she was about four years old. Then, amazingly, off she went. She traveled the same road of her sister. Proving to me it was not just the child but the program.
They Amaze Their Teachers
Our oldest daughter now in second grade is reading at a solid sixth grade level. Our youngest in Kindergarten is reading at a third grade level. They amaze their teachers, and us everyday.
This Book Has Literally Changed Our Lives
This book along with our efforts, has given our children the love of reading and learning. Every subject is made understandable when they are able to read the instructions!
Witness Your Child Learn to Read
Over the past four years I have recommended this book to many teachers and friends. Yes, you have to sit with you children and enjoy the process. But, what a wonderful process to witness you children learn to read!

This sounds like a great book!
We teach Reading through phonetics at the preschool where I work, too. Our students can read 3-letter CVC words (i.e. words with the consonant-vowel-consonant pattern) by the end of Nursery 2 (ages 3 1/2 - 4 1/2). :-) The phonetics-based approach to Reading really does develop independent readers. :-)
I'm intrigued - I don't want to push my kids, but I appreciate offering that which stimulates - I'm off to check it out :o)
Hello RainbowRecognizer, I'm with you withnot wanting to push my kids. The book has in red what the parent is to say to child. I let loose of the formality of the program, handed them the book and let them have fun with it (me by their side of course) Once they learn how to use put their finger under the sounds and basics like that they need little pushing. We would read before bed and it was fun. Sometimes skip days, all works in the end. It did give them reading tools which obviously helped. Let me know how it goes. My homeschooling friend just bought the book, I"ll post how they like it.
That's really amazing... But for me, I started on my reading highway in grade four, reading more books that were gr. 7 level and up... But it was my parents who started me on this road. I still remember the first book that my dad got me, the first in the series of Harry Potter.
