My Friend and I went to Court
67I met my friend when I joined the company some six years ago, she had already been there for two or three years and was quite settled.
Unusually , the company had a wonderful atmosphere whereby everyone could have a say. there was none of this, them and us , rubbish. Everybody got on with everybody else and you could speak to anyone, even the managing director himself , should you experience any difficulty. These pleasant surroundings continued for sometime and then our sales manager left and from there on in it was a downhill slide.
Managers came and went, all of them, making a worse job than the one before. My friend, between one manager leaving and the next one starting would run the whole office. She coped with the administration, managed the telesales office and would co-ordinate the sales reps. [Think she must have been superwoman] What thanks did she get? not a lot.
Well as I said managers came and went, then the husband and wife team from hell arrived. I had worked for these two before and knew what they could do,I tried to warn my friend but she could not believe what I was saying. I told her to be careful.
My friend did everything that was asked of her, even though something's did not feel right - she did this in the belief that if things got too bad , the managing director would step in and take control. This didnt happen , and over a period of six months or so the pair had stripped away her job piece by piece until she could cope no more and went to the citizens advice bereau and claimed that she was a victim of a constructive dismissel campaign.
Armed with advice from the C.A.B. a meeting was called to discuss her grievance, which did not go down well and resulted in my friend resigning from the company, as is her entitlement. The C.A.B. could only take the proceedings so far and adviced her to seek legal advice , which she did [paid for by the home insurance company she is with]
The solicitors took the case to tribunal, where it was ruled , and not contested, that she had been a victim of constructive dismissel and was subsequently awarded a substantial compensation.
I was a witness for her and have supported her throughout and will continue to do so. True friendship is hard to come by and I treasure each and every one of mine.

Thankyou, your opinion is much appreciated.
good for you - how did you find the Tribunal?
The tribunal was very relaxed and informal, although I did have to swear on the bible before giving testemony. It was an experience I can tellyou
Tribunals are fun - each slightly different....
My main stamping ground is the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal, but my other half frequents the ET.
Do you just go there to watch the proceeding, entertainment for free haha, or is it part of your job?
I AM THAT FRIEND AND YOU TRULY ARE A GREAT FRIEND TO HAVE. YOU HAVE ALWAYS SUPPORTED ME - EVEN WHEN I WOULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT YOU SAID WAS HAPPENING AT WORK. YOUR BLOG IS GREAT. LOVE ALWAYS X
I'm a barrister, so I get paid to go, as does my boyfriend (-:
Sherry - you have a top mate there!
Thanks sherryshaz, much appreciated.
Ahha Londongirl so you and your boyfriend are barristers, think that must be a fantastic and interesting vocation..so many new and interesting cases ..you must have lots of tales to tell.
sadly, that's not all - so are my Dad and brother! Boring, but at least my mother and sisters are not (-:
I've written a hub about barrister-ing.
Hey London girl it could be worse , a family of barristers , you could be in a family of criminals or total wasters.
I must have missed your hub, heading over to it now think I might learn something
see you there
my sisters are a journalist and three day eventer / chiropracter, and my mother's a teacher, so there is some little variety!
Great Story, Londongirl always amazes me with her down to Earth comments, every Lawyer I have known, has spoken in another dialect, pretty much like their letters. (Hieroglyphics) Our family lawyer ( we have now ridded ourselves of him), used to refer to himself as one, to the point that was what everyone called him "One" He poises on the threshold between intellectual, and mentally retarded.
So gives the profession a really bad name.
But you feel that if there are people out there like this, there is hope for a Profession, that members of my family have also been involved in, over the years. My family members associated with Law just became boring people, which is almost as bad.
Doctors have moved with the times, so keep some of the cool old things like the Old Court Rules, these are part of Our basic heritage. But lose, the them and us, mentality, which, makes people unable to relate to their Solicitors.
Hi Mandy, you stumped me , couldn,t find a reply, agree that tradition is part of our heritage, and don,t think all solicitors are boring only some.
I've met some really hot solicitors
Yeah me too
That really is terrible that she had to even go through that. It's tough out there but it's always good to have a good friend standing by your side. Have a great weekend Hawksdream.
You too, Rick, on holiday for a few days, and gonna enjoy every minute.

I'm really glad to hear that you stood by your friend during her times of trials and tribulation. A friend like that is very hard to come by these days.
