If you have been in network marketing for anytime, some terms have become very popular lately; these include attraction marketing, You.inc, and marketing yourself. In reality these are all the same thing. This article is just my journey from a newbie to building Me Inc.
When I first came into marketing, I thought I was a salesperson for my company. My job was to sale the company and its products. So in order to succeed I would play the numbers. If I got my business opportunity in front of enough eyes, some people would join me. So all my social networking profiles on the internet looked like a huge billboard for my company.
I knew I needed to learn how to market, but I was very stingy when it came to paying for training. So I relied on my company for training and attended all the training calls with my company, listened to my upline, and used any free training materials I could find on the internet.
After having very little success, I finally decided to buy Magnetic Sponsoring by Mike Dillard. I read the entire book in one setting on my laptop. This one book had a huge impact on my idea of marketing, and it totally changed my approach in marketing.
I did not know it at the time, but what I learned through Magnetic Sponsoring was a way to increase my value. This is at the heart of marketing yourself. You must have value in the eyes of your customer or prospect. If they do not see you as a person of value, then they will not join you and they will not buy from you.
There is only one way to make yourself valuable, and that is through training. Then you will be able to offer a solution to other people. As you solve other people’s problems, they will be more willing to listen to you. Then it will be much easier to get them to join you or buy from you.
I also became less stingy when it came to paying for training. I went on to buy more products from Mike Dillard (Building on a Budget, Black Belt Recruiting, PPC Domination, and Traffic Formula 2) to increase my value. I was continually reading articles, forums, and attending a number of different webinars.
After a few months of this, I started suffering from too much information. At that time, I did not have enough technical knowledge to set up my online marketing. So I understood the theory of building Me Inc, but I could not apply it.
I then found a tool that put all the pieces together for me so that I could start marketing myself more efficiently. The tool is MLM Lead System Pro (MLSP), and I highly recommend this to anyone just starting in network marketing or not seeing the success they want. This is one of the best resources I have come across for training, helping with the technical side of setting up a website, and helping you to apply what you are learning. If you work the system, within a few weeks you will building You Inc.
Now everyday, I am building Me Inc., learning as much as I can and turning around teaching everything I learn through articles, videos, blog, and e-mails.
One thing about marketing, no matter how much training you have, you will always be learning new things. This is just part of this industry. It really is a journey and a learning process. There are sometimes when you feel you are doing everything you can, but not getting anywhere. If you remain persistent and consistent with the correct training and applying what you learn in that training you will make it. It may take some time, but you will reach your final goal.
