My Keyword Ideas

What are the secrets to using keywords?

What are the most powerful words you can plaster across your copy to make it tingle and sparkle with attractive, money-making clickability?

How can YOU benefit from using mere words to ring up big sales in your Google account?

Well don't look at me!

My hubs have about the same traffic as there are visitors to a synagogue on Sundays.

Having said that, however, I am nevertheless innocent enough to believe that there may yet be a way to monetize my writing, at least to the point where I find a return on my articles that equals that of the cost of buying- myself- a- used -book -at -a -garage -sale -where -the- owner -is -going -to- close -up- because -it -looks -like -rain -and -I can- have -the -book -for -10 cents-sort of 'monetization'.

My Theory

Keywords are the hot commodity it seems these days. Everyone wants them and that makes the really good ones a real jewel worth it's weight in clicks.

It is my theory that there are a whole range of keywords that people rarely use in their articles/Hubs, but which are nevertheless big cash-cows for the clever writer who can utilize them.

Here are a few suggestions:

  • granny's ear-trumpet

  • dead goldfish earrings

  • gift ideas for your Imam

  • gas-powered laptops

  • pleasant taxi smells

  • home punch-clocks--the wave of the future?

  • delicious compost recipes

The Art of Mis-spelled Keywords

In this section I will show you how the human brain uses free-association to find a topic it is searching for.

Below is an example of a person who might start out looking for something about President George Bush, but end up really wanting to find some information about dog-food brands.

George Bush

Bash

Brush

Lush

Mush

Mash

Mis-mash

Mis-hit

Mistake

big mistake

really big mistake

Gore's nemesis

Cheney's ticket

Barney's boss

Dog owner

dog care

dog food--Alpo

See how simple that was? This is a technique known only to the big name Internet marketers but I'm giving it to you for free. Why? Call me a nice guy (but don't call me Ishmael).

Synonyms

Synonyms are delicious on toast in the morning. Make sure you sprinkle some sugar on too. Yum! I love synonyms on toast...unfortunately I can't figure what they have to do with keywords.

Other then the fact that they taste nice.

O well.

Word Density

Many words are dense and this cannot be avoided. It takes all kinds to make a sentence.

For example the word 'Crispy Creme Doughnut' is obviously dense, but in a bad way. It will add pounds to your body by just reading the word. I once gained ten pounds overnight by reading the words Ben and Jerry's Cherry Cheesecake Ice Cream'. Hence, these words should only be used with a warning label.

The other type of word density is the intelligent heavy-weight type. Words like: 'logarithm',Fibonacci series' and 'verb-declension' have a word density which, while impressive, will slow down the CPU on your computer and make your system files turn back-flips. Thus, again, use them with caution.

Average words are best for your copy. Imagine your Hub/article is being read by a little old lady from Santa Rosa CA who likes mystery novels, The Saturday Evening Post and occasionally takes a fling and reads Rolling Stone Magazine when she is feeling dangerous. This is what we Internet marketers call 'our target audience'. Remember this and you can't go wrong.

You forgot the most important thing about keywords, Woody, that keywords are infact keys in the shape of words. The natural response to keywords, therefore, are lockwords. You need lockwords for key words to fit into. Once you know that and know how to use then effectively - keywords AND lockwords - making money on the internet is easy. I know. I've made $15 since May.

What you really need is a skeleton Key Word with which you could unpick any attached lockword. Who knows, you could probably unpick knitting, wonkey seams, noses, and all manner of useful things with a skeleton keyword. Does that make sense? Oh well. That's probably why I've only just broken the $1 barrier myself. I hope to be a dollar millionaire by Christmas. Which Christmas? Don't ask!

CJ: I'll look for some lock words then and see if they fit my keys! :)

Amanda: Good luck in your million dollar Christmas plans! :)

Great hub written with a great voice and a lot of great words. Did I mention that your words are great in a great wordlike kind of way.

In all seriousness. This is a fine piece of humor and reality meeting at a cocktail party. I love the synonyms for GW. OR should I call them: keyed car words.

cj or anyone else, could you please give me an example of lockwords and its keywords? i still hardly understand what you mean by natural response of keywords? let say my keyword is "granny's ear-trumpet" what is the lockword for this keyword?

HI, I STILL DONT UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN 'LOCKWORD' AND 'KEYWORD'

Rob: Your comments are good keywords for commenting complimentarily!

:)

nouveau: I believe lockwords are an invention of CJ and hence it might be better if he were to answer your question...I can only say that my free-association technique outlined above for granny's ear trumpet goes like this:

granny

fanny

fan

club

clubber

night (club)

fight

site

see

saw

wood

Woody

Hence people looking for granny's ear trumpet are actually looking for me! (Woody Marx).

Hope that helps you. ;)

Star: thank you for reading...I refer you to my previous answer...you might try writing CJ and asking him what a lockword is an could he write a Hub on it? I bet he will. :)
