My Life in a Nutshell Part 2
62I woke up with a pounding headache the next day, wondering where it came from. Then remembered the wine; the burnt food; but, most importantly, my wonderful garage, which still needs to be fixed. Thankfully, I remembered my father will be coming over with my brothers to clean it out. Thankfully, a neighbor of his had some sort of contraption or other that gets the water out.
I call him again, just to make sure.
"Hey dad, it's me."
"Hello darlin'. We're coming over soon. Oliver hasn't gotten up yet, but your mom is in the room now getting him up."
"Sometimes I think he's worse than me. He not only sleeps late, but takes longer to get dressed. That isn't fair!"
We both laugh at the family joke and continue to talk for a while. He tells me that he is going to have a couple other people come over to help "fortify the fort, so to speak". He has always been on me about getting it fixed and prepared so that it hopefully won't happen another time. He reminds me that this is the third time he has had to come over, so naturally, he wants to not keep coming over to fix the problem.
"I know, Dad, I can't help it. It rains and sometimes it rains hard enough that it floods."
"I know that, dear, but you have to remember that these kinds of things can be prevented. I have a buddy that will come with me to help seal everything better and put in some proper drains. Make it as good as new."
"Well, you know I always enjoy having you over to do these types of things. Helps me save some money."
I smile at that, knowing he would probably rather me spend the money on a business that specializes in this. That way he won't waste a day missing all the games that come on in the afternoon. It is a Saturday.
"Haha, yes, well. Let me go, I think Oliver is up and is actually getting ready, believe it or not."
"Hmmm, amazing. Never thought I would see the day. I love you and I will see you soon?"
"I never thought I would either. We should be there in about 45 minutes or so, after Oliver has gotten a shower and eaten."
"Ok, thanks Dad. See you soon!"
"Love you too Peach Potato."
Don't ask about the nickname; the origin has not yet been revealed and I like it like that. Knowing I had a limited time span, I quickly get in the shower and jump out almost as quick as I jumped in.
When they finally get here, seven people total are here and about three of them start to get to work while the other four stand around fiddling with a radio to hear the game or looking at the ground. Making sure everyone had some sort of drink or food in the vacinity, I go back to my room, close the door, and go back to sleep. But not before I help myself to some, "self love", if you get my drift.

Well thank you! I take that as a compliment. If your dad wants to give me pointers, just let me know! :)

Wow, it's almost like the dad in the story knows my dad. :) Great job!
