My Network Marketing Mistakes
62We commit mistakes every now and then. We also experience failures from time to time.
It's alright. We are not perfect. The important thing is we learn from our mistakes and stand up again to continue the battle.
My network marketing experience is maybe the same experience as you have had. I started in network marketing with the knowledge in my mind that it would be easy for me to get to the top. But I was wrong. My wife and I struggled much. We experienced so many rejections and even mockery.
I outlined below the following mistakes I have experienced.
1. Everyone is a prospect - sounds so good but in reality it's not. How can we prospect everyone if they are not interested in network marketing or in the product we are "sharing"? Can we prospect a beggar on the street? Of course not.
2. Attend at least three to six times business opportunity presentations every week with or without guests. It caused me a lot of money and consuming a lot of my time.
3. This is not selling. It's sharing.
4. I spent a lot of money in buying flyers which in the first place just to be given away to my prospects who are not really interested to even read it.
5. It's a delayed gratification. It had been a long time but I never see a very significant changes. How long shall we wait for the delayed gratification that they are talking about?
6. Bring as many guests as we can to business opportunity meetings without telling them about the presentation. Meaning, I lied to my prospects.
Those are just a few examples of the mistakes I have experienced in trying to build my network marketing business.
I kept on chasing prospects to join my opportunity. Giving flyers and talking to strangers in the mall, on the street, at schools, everywhere. Of course some people joined my opportunity but they are gone after few months.
I did everything my uplines told me to do. I had nothing to do about it. Those are the things that my uplines taught me. Of course I never blamed my uplines for teaching me those things. Maybe they are not just aware that traditional method of network marketing is outdated and completely sabotaging our success. Or maybe they learned the same techniques from their uplines.
Then I started looking for some possible ways to do network marketing business in a better way. And I found the 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing. This is a very enlightening ebook about the great and common lies in network marketing industry and exactly the same as what I had been doing as network marketer. And then I learned the seven lessons on how to attract prospects to me without having to chase them. From that moment on, I stopped chasing strangers, friends and relatives.
