My Personal Awareness of the Law of Attraction
50When I was in college, I lived in a boarding house so I usually did most of my laundry by hand. And as I let them dry under the sun, I put my basin on a stool while hanging out the clothes one by one. I hadn’t noticed until one time that whenever I had this feeling that the basin would fall off the stool, it would. Then I observed that whenever I had an appointment or schedules, I came late whenever I felt scared of being late. Eventually, my superstitious nature prompted me to follow what some old people do to break some spell –knocking on any solid surface three times. It worked for me. From then on, I’ve developed this belief that if I do that, the things I don’t wanna happen won’t happen.
A few years later, I came across this book by Andrew Matthews entitled Being Happy and a section of his book discussed the law of attraction. It talks about our thoughts as a form of energy, and everything existing in the universe being energies. Well this is quantum physics, you know, and I am not so good at that, but in a gist, it says that our thoughts attract forces in nature, and if we send off a negative energy, we are likely to attract something negative from nature. So if we think positive, we send out positive energy, and are attracting positive things from the universe. I always thought that I was just superstitious, but after reading this, somehow, there’s a scientific explanation as to why things happen when my mind linger on them.
My awareness was reinforced when a friend of mine introduced The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. I’ve read the book and watched the video several times. I even recommended this to all of my friends. I know that there are negative criticisms about the ideas discussed in this book but this one really got me. Although, it seems to be more of into expanding people’s wealth, the crux of the matter is it’s all in our mind. We become what we think, as the book says. If it is what‘s in our heart, and we both consciously and subconsciously send them to the universe as thoughts, then they happen. And so in little things, the law of attraction has been working in my life. I haven’t REALLY noticed it until the “basin days”. So now, I am getting more and more conscious of my thoughts and emotions. It is like trying to connect to my subconscious. And it helps me keep a positive view of life. And it makes me seem like less of a superstitious person, or so I thought. (*v*)
