My Settlement in England, UK
52I came back to England, UK with a Settlement Visa to join my partner last 2007 after visiting the country twice holding a tourist visa.
Getting a visa wasn’t easy for me as a single lady. I also had my share of difficulties in complying with some of the requirements in the British Embassy. However, I was able to manage and overcome them and now I am finally here in this lovely country.
Few illustrative Photos ....
More Interesting Things I learned and found out in England, UK:
- They have plenty of tourist spots, lovely places to visit and hang around.
- The country has plenty of Castles, Towers, Mansion Houses turn into a museum or part of the leisure parks; and Old houses and priories turn into pubs.
- A considerable number of Indians, Africans & Muslims are part of their population.
- Most of the houses are made of bricks and do not have tall gates of fences.
- They have rules to comply in constructing houses, buildings and even fences, if possible uniformly built with the rest in the village, county or city.
- They use incandescent lamps to light their homes warm and not fluorescent lights.
- They have few light post on streets, esp. country roads. Light post are only found in the cities or towns or in busy areas.
- They do not eat Rice regularly nor serve in the restaurants or pubs unless if the course needs rice to go with it, such as Indian and Chinese Food.
- Traditional British Food is served like:
- a) Mid Morning and Afternoon Snack – Hot Cup of Tea w/ biscuits or cakes (to keep them warm, they sometimes pour whisky or brandy in their cup of tea)
- b) On Sundays is Roast Meat – ie. Roast Beef, Roast Lamb, Roast Pork, Roast Duck and or Roast Chicken, etc.
- c) Easter – Cross Buns; Easter Egg Chocolates
- d) Christmas & New Year – Turkey and Goose; Christmas Pudding, Mince Pies, Variety of Nuts; Dates, Stilton Cheese.
10. British people love to stroll in the garden parks, by the seaside, hills and mountains. or stay in open fields during spring and summer.
11. British people are animal lovers. Most of them have pets like dogs and cats. Most often you see them take their dogs for a walk during spring, summer & autumn seasons.
12. Babies are often taken out by their mothers using push chairs or baby’s prams. You seldom see them carry their babies or kids not until they are capable of walking.
I am aware that there will be more discoveries and learning apart from the things I mentioned above. Hence, the longer I stay in this country there will be more learning about their culture and life style.
Sounds Interesting, Isn't it? ;-)
