My Slow Cooker Beef Stew
68Slow cookers are a great way to make a meal while you are at work or if you are away or at play for the day.Simple! I dont give actual measurements for the ingredients but one rule of thumb , don't fill the cooker more than 2/3 (two thirds full).Trust me!If you fill it to the top everything changes.
First things first: I bought 4 blade simmering steaks about a half inch thick and 3"x4" in size......I cubed them so they looked like stewing beef.Next, I put the cubed steak into a freezer bag and dumped (Compliments Sensations)Smokey Bourbon Applewood grilling sauce....1/3 of the 350ml bottle,,,,1 big tblspoon of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce,,,,,,a pinch of fresh crushed garlic a couple of shakes from a steak spice shaker by Club House LaGrille to be exact then shook it up in the bag and put that in the fridge overnight.
Now the veggies; If you can't be bothered to slice them you can buy them already sliced.Thats what I did!I hate slicing up veggies and if I can skip it then why not.
Next: Combine the following ingredients in the removable ceramic part of the crock Pot. Covered and in the fridge.Do not add the meat until you are ready to cook.
Small bag of sliced carrots....about 1 1/2 cups,,,,,1 can of sliced mushroms.....1 green pepper and yes I sliced it up into squares.....1/2 of a large spanish onion sliced and diced .....4 medium sized potatoes all peeled and sliced up into bite size cubes,,,,,1 can of sweet green peas.,,1 can of diced up tomatoes .....1/2 tspn of beef base .....a littje crushed garlic and Club House beef stew seasoning mix........done.
In the morning empty the bag of steak we sliced and spiced into the veggies we mixed and put three bay leaves on top. set the crock pot on low for 8-11 hrs .When you get home it'll be done.I don't know about you but I get up at five and I'm usually out the door before six and when I get home at between 4-5pm it's done and ready to eat.
