Rest and Recovery

Over the past year I have put my body through some tough times, lifting vigorisly, and going through alot of pain. With that said I still have not reached the goals I set for myself. This is becomeing more and more of a draw back to my usually opitmistic ideas. So one day I sat down and realized just what was prohibiting me from reaching my goals, to little rest. Now I had known that rest is a vital but honestly I never took it searously. Well I was wrong. Did you know that while lifting weigths or when you are exercising you are ripping your muscles? Yep, see your muscles grow more and more each time you rip them, the heal up a little stronger each time. Now you may ask how your muscles heal? Muscles heal each time you sleep. This is why I drink a nice class of protein powder before bed. When you sleep the muscles you tore earlier are slowly being "rebuilt." All the protein you drank from your protein powder is slowy being absorbed into your muscle fibers. Well since I learned these facts I have being trying to force myself to keeping nice long sleep hours. Now this brings up a question. How much sleep should we recieve? The answer is quite simple, if you are lifting weights or exerciseing you should strive for around 8-10 hours. If you sleep atleast eight hours you should help promote muscle growth. Now with all this said I hope you have learned that in order to be succesful weight lifter one mus first get sleep, lift, and remember drink your protein powder!

Me now that i rest

I take my chances with a bottle of small blue pills. They’re intended for my grandfather, but since he isn’t here anymore, he won’t mind sharing a couple, maybe three or four. Ten minutes into surfing the Web, I can’t feel my legs. I am slipping from my chair, and I can’t stop myself from falling.

Sitting next to her mother, first-year Caro Novick enjoyed the little rest time she was allowed while attending AARO. Excited and anxious about her upcoming year at SMU, her thoughts turned toward freedom, classes and meeting new people.
