My Top Ten Coolest Christian Songs Ever
67
I love Christian music! I love the worship aspect because it is uplifting. I love the words because they are encouraging. I love it because I don't have to hear anything that offends me. There is none of the swearing, violence, name-calling, etc. that is so common with music today. Some Christian music I like because the music together with the words are just plain cool. Following is a list of what I think are some of the coolest Christian songs to date.
Jesus is Just Alright
This song was recorded by the Doobie Brothers in the early 70's and is considered to help spark their career. DC Talk took this popular classic rock song and made it their own. It can be found on their album, Intermission: The Greatest Hits.

I Am Free
The Newsboys have lots of cool songs, including the ever popular "Breakfast" which goes:
When the toast is burned, And all the milk has turned
And cap'n crunch is wavin' farewell.
When the big one finds you, May this song remind you
That they don't serve breakfast, in hell.
But I think their live version of "I Am Free" is their coolest song ever. The song was originally released on their album, Go and can also be found on their live album, Houston We Are GO.

This is Who I Am
Of course I would need to include a song by Third Day as they are my favorite Christian band. They too have a lot of cool songs. Their song, This is Who I Am, is so cool though, that it is featured as a selection on Playstation's NASCAR. This song was released on their most recent album, Revelation.

I Will Not Be Moved
Natalie Grant is one woman who really knows how to rock! She is probably my current favorite female Christian artist. Her music is so versatile and powerful. She has an amazing voice. Here's to you Natalie for being the only female on this list!

Stomp
This song, Stomp, was released on the album, God's Property from Kirk Franklin's Nu Nation in 1997. I discovered this album, along with many other great gospel albums when I lived in Raleigh/Durham North Carolina. I happened to stumble upon this cute video of this song played with the movie Happy Feet.
Washed by the Water
I saw the band Needtobreathe when they opened for Third Day almost a year ago. I would have to say their song, Washed By the Water, is my favorite song performed live. It was amazing! They are an awesome band. Rock, but with more of a blues sound. This song was released on their album, The Heat, which is one of my favorite albums.

I Need You
I'm not a huge Jars of Clay fan but I do think this song is really cool. Like most songs that really grab my attention, I Need You was a very fitting song for what I was going through at the time of it's release which was in 2002 on their album, The Eleventh Hour.

Lose My Soul
This is probably one of the coolest songs EVER! Again, not a huge Toby Mac fan since he is a little too hip hop rap for me but he is very gifted. Made to Love is also a cool song on his album, Portable Sounds. I also love Mandisa and Kirk Franklin in this song. I was rooting for Mandisa when she was on American Idol and I love the fact she's a top-selling Christian artist.

Never Let Go
I just had to put this song on my list. It's one of my all-time favorites. It's so moving and brings tears to my eyes everytime. The reason I think it's cool is because it's a perfect blend of truth, emotion, music and David Crowder's voice captures it all.
