Gone With The Wind

Gone with the Wind Gone with the Wind

List Price: $19.98

Released in 1941, starring Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable and Olivia DeHaviland

Set in Atlanta during the Civil War, the story follows the life of debutant daughter Scarlett O'Hara as she attempts to make it through the many trials she faces over the span of the war. Through loves and husbands and death and destruction, her life and relationship with the infamous Rhett Butler are captivating.

This is an incredible movie. It is beautifully and romantically shot and is a movie I think everyone should see at least once.

This video basically sums up why I love this movie so much

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

Released in 1969, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford

Follows leaders of the Hole in The Wall Gang, Butch and Sundance as they flee from a posse out to get them for robbing trains.

This is a western for anyone who doesn't think they like westerns. It is hilarious and full of action. Paul Newman and Robert Redford are two of the best actors of our time. They have incredible chemistry together. This movie is a great watch!!

Pride and Prejudice

Pride & Prejudice Pride & Prejudice
Price: $7.87
List Price: $12.98

Released in 2005, starring Kiera Knightley, Donald Sutherland and Matthew Macfadyen

Pride and Prejudice is the beautiful retelling of Jane Austen's classic novel. Full of romance and drama, this movie tugs at the heart. It is beautifully done and one I could (and do) watch over and over.

The movie's main plot lines are those following the five Bennet daughters as they find love. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy's mostly rocky and misunderstood 'relationship' is the main story line. It is not hard to fall in love with the character of Mr. Darcy. :)

A beautiful tribute to Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy

The Great Escape (2-Disc Collector's Set) The Great Escape (2-Disc Collector's Set)
Price: $6.13
List Price: $19.98

The Great Escape

Released in 1963, starring Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson and James Coburn

This movie tells the true story of a group of POW's working to escape an 'escape proof' prison camp in Nazi Germany during World War II

This movie is full of action, drama, intensity and plenty of laughs along the way. The cast is impeccable and moving.

Wyatt Earp [Blu-ray] Wyatt Earp [Blu-ray]
Price: $6.99
List Price: $28.99

Wyatt Earp

Released in 1994 and starring Kevin Costner, Dennis Quaid, Gene Hackman, Mark Harmon, Catherine O'Hara, Michael Madsen, Bill Pullman, Isabella Rossellini, Tom Sizemore, JoBeth Williams, and many many more

This is the telling of the Wyatt Earp story, from nearly beginning to nearly end.

It begins in his family home and follows his life through loss and tragedy to lawman and lover. It follows Wyatt and his brothers  to Tombstone and beyond.  The cast is extensive and does a great job portraying their characters. Another "western" for those of us not too sure about westerns. :)

The very beautiful and moving trailer to Wyatt Earp

The Big Chill The Big Chill
Price: $6.91
List Price: $14.94
The Big Chill - 15th Anniversary: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack The Big Chill - 15th Anniversary: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Price: $8.49
List Price: $13.98

The Big Chill

Released in 1983 and starring, Glenn Close, Kevin Kline, Tom Berenger, Jeff Goldblum, William Hurt, Mary Kay Place, JoBeth Williams, and Meg Tilly

It is the story of seven college friends reunited to attend the funeral of one of their other friends. They spend a weekend at the home of Kevin Kline and Glenn Close's characters. This movie is fun, dramatic, sad and uplifting all at once.

This one has an awesome soundtrack as well. Lots of hits from the 60's!

Dirty Dancing

released in 1987 and starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey

I think this movie is probably on most women's favorite movie lists! I've seen this more times than I can count (the same with all on this list) and can recite lines for you if you wanted :)

It is the story of 17 yr old Baby Houseman in 1963 when she meets and falls in love with a young dance instructor while on vacation with her family in the Catskills.

The soundtrack is amazing, too. Lots of oldies and some great 80's tunes, too.

All I can say is, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner. " :)

Ordinary People Ordinary People
Price: $4.40
List Price: $9.98
Ordinary People Ordinary People
Price: $3.97
List Price: $14.00

Ordinary People

Released in 1980 and starring Timothy Hutton, Donald Sutherland and Mary Tyler Moore

Based on the novel by Judith Guest, Ordinary People follows a young teenage boy named Conrad Jarret. Distraught by the death of his older brother, Conrad is sent to a mental institution after attempting suicide. When he returns home, life with his family and friends is much different than the life he used to have. Judd Hirsch plays the role of Conrad's psychiatrist.

This movie is drama all the way. Very moving and engaging. One of the few movies I have seen that follows the book to a tee.

She's the Man (Full Screen Edition) She's the Man (Full Screen Edition)
Price: $7.95
List Price: $14.98
She's the Man She's the Man
Price: $9.99
List Price: $18.98

She's The Man

Released in 2006 and stars Amanda Bynes, Channing Tatum, Robert Hoffman, and Laura Ramsey

This movie is purely fun. It's hilarious and I love it. I've watched it at least 15 times. Every time I crack up. It's a laugh out loud feel good movie. Based on the play Twelfth Night by Shakespeare

Amanda Bynes plays Viola, a teenager who loves soccer and decides to join the boys team at a rival school when the girls team gets cut. She dresses and acts like a boy and lives with her hot guy roommate Duke, played by Channing Tatum.

The soundtrack is great too.

The X-Men Trilogy

Released in 2000, 2003, and 2006 respectively and starring Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Iac McKellan, Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Anna Paquin, Famke Jansen, Rebecca Romijn and Shawn Ashmore

I know technically it's three movies, but it's hard to love one and not the other two :) I LOVE X MEN!! The action scenes and special effects are incredible. The characters are awesome and there's a little something for everbody--mutants, adventure, love, fighting, you name it! X Men is about the group of super hero mutants known as the X Men who are fighting against the forces of evil, namely Magneto and his clan.

My personal opinion is that these are the best of the Marvel comics movies.

I've seen some of these movies...should probably watch Gone with the Wind again...

...the X-Men trilogy made me happier than a college girl in a Forever 21 blow out sale. ;)

Though...hated the third part for many reasons more than I loved it.

I've written 15 challengers so far. I should have done another one tonight, but I got a headache and I'm tired. And I just don't wanna :)

I actually bought Gone With the Wind before ever watching it about two years ago. It was very good, in spite of all of the hype that surrounds it. It might also be the first big budget Hollywood, as it's budget was astronomical for its time. Did you know that the Sundance Film Festival was actually named after Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? It's true, as Robert Redford is the founder. Great hub, Janetta. I look forward to reading more!
