Fort Hood and My Thoughts on Hasan and Terrorism
Is now the time? Time to ask our government and their agencies if they will actually watch "people of interest". Maybe now the government will wake up and thoroughly follow up on people who they consider to be affiliated with terrorist organizations. This clown down in Texas, was being looked at by the FBI, why? Well, because he is a terrorist. Some say that he isn't. I would disagree. The definition of terrorism is an act which causes terror tot other for political purposes and/or to resist government. To me this is exactly what Hasan did. He killed and wounded many of his unarmed comrades. If he felt so strongly that he needed to kill Soldiers, why didn't he resign his commission as an officer, go to Iraq and fight us that way? Answer, he is a coward; just like any terrorist.
I am not calling Hasan a terrorist due to his religion. During my time in the Army I met many Muslims in Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman; many of which had good hearts and do not want war, instead they seek peace and happiness just as many of us. Terrorists come from all races, cultures and religions; not only the Middle East and the Muslim religion.
With all of that said, our government had this guy on their radar. Why didn't they keep him there? Was it because he was in the military? Wouldn't that make him more of a risk factor if he was posting sympathetic messages about suicide bombings and delivering anti-war presentations to fellow officers? I don't understand why he wasn't followed up on by the FBI. They say he did not pose a threat. Great! How many more people just like him have they been watching and stopped? Because if he didn't pose a significant threat, I pray for us all.
I have a challenge for all radical terrorists out there. I say you want a war. Let's really make it one. Put on a uniform and fight! Stop using IED's (roadside bombs), suicide bombs and un-uniformed cowards. We all know you won't, why? Cowards!
If I have offended anyone. Sorry, but I didn't serve OUR country to just sit by and not voice my opinion. I fought for OUR very right to say what we want. I fought for other countries to do the same. And before someone responds with the ideology that we are fighting for oil. Ok, maybe we are. But in the meantime, I personally saw children go to school for the first time in Iraq, I saw business owners there start to flourish, thumbs-up from little kids and their families, and most of all I saw a lot of people who just want to live their life without being controlled by a dictator like Saddam. As for the oil, you drive right? You need the oil and gas just like everyone else. I mean if not, really make a difference and walk everywhere. And to the people who disagree with me, take this to ponder. You have that right to disagree and to voice your opinion, why? Because of the US Soldier's have died, have served and the ones who are serving now. You live in a free country. Believe what you want, it's your right. If you really hate our government, guess what? You can leave, that's your right too!!
