My backyard veggie shop
66
Living in Perth,Western Australia has its benefits one of them is the weather we have Mediterranean climate and is located in one of five Mediterranean climate zones in the world. Which means we have great weather to grow a lovely garden full of plants, veggies and fruit trees which at my house I do grow all these . It hasn't been easy because the soil in Perth is just like beach sand and you have to add heaps of organic matter and wetting agents to the soil so it can grow, which I have done I am lucky to have a big block 612 meters in-fact I have Banana trees, A grafted apple tree, Mango tree and pomegranate tree and in pots I have a dwarf Nectarine tree and a dwarf peach tree and finally a passion-fruit plant as well as a big veggie garden full of corn,Broccoli, potatoes cabbage ,cauliflower, tomatoes, peas and beans plus heap more. In some big tubs I have strawberries and mixed lettuce so as you can see I could have my own veggie shop. It gives my family great joy to have a garden like that and the benefits of growing your own fruit and vegetables are never ending apart from the fact that its more healthy and fresh to pick your own grown crop, you are saving money because you don't have to go and buy vegetables at the shops which now are becoming expensive in today's market and its also chemical free well I try to use organic chemicals to kill the bugs and pests that can cause havoc on my garden and if I can stop my little girls from picking off the fruit when it's not ready I'ld be happier , I have a bore and reticulation because I'm afraid Perth does have water rescritions and having fruit trees and vegetables can use up alot of water if your not careful that's why mulching is so important and I have my own worm farm which is great fun to give the garden a boost and its also a great way to get rid of vegetable peelings and other household organic waste I have found the best stuff to give the garden is seasol and fish emullsion the plants really do well when you feed them good stuff we have a big patio and recentlly put bistro blinds around the patio to make an enclosed outdoor room and I have a meduim sized pond with some big koi and other gold fish with a small water fall churning up the water in the pond its nice to have friends around for a bbq and have a few drinks and watch the fish in the pond, or watch the children run around our patio we have an essorted palms and ferns and many numberous plants that gives a great green feeling to our house.

Thank You Just Rodney yes every morning I wake up and the first thing I usually do is take a stroll around my garden .
Thank you for your comments .
Mulder, we used to live like this growing up, but now it is sadly different. We seemed to be tied with technology and too much dependent. When there is a crisis, we will suffer more for this dependency.
hi i am from Indonesia, nice to see your youtube.com vegetable garden
So very true cgull8m thank for commenting
Yes avatarlagi I love to have that kind of garden myself mind is not that big Im afraid. thank you for your comment
Sweetiepie wishes she had lots of money and could visit Australia. Yes, I know this is off topic, but it has always been a dream of mine to see Australia. Reading about your garden sounds as if you have some nice plants there. Pomegranates are great for many dishes too, so I am a little envious. Lucky you!
I hope you win some money soon SweetiePie do you play lotto ? So you come to Australia its a great place to vist for a hoiliday or even live . We do have some nice plants but its a big job to take care of my garden . Thank you so much for commenting .
I used to play the lottery, but I stopped as I never win and over time I was just wasting my money :). Maybe in a couple of years I will just take one of those packaged tours to Australia because I would like to go sooner than later. Several people came into my work recently and said Australia was one of the most friendly places they had ever visited, and they have been all over the world.
All the work that it takes gardening is actually good exercise, so you get the beauty of the garden and physical fitness out of it too. Hope you keep writing more about your garden in the future.
I always play weekend lotto never know when you might struck it lucky . If you do come to Australia you are welcome at my house anytime . Yes it does keep me fit doing my gardening thanks for your comments .

Brilliant HUb, Mulder, I can see from the writing that the garden, not only gives you the fruit and vegetables you and your family consumes, but a great personal pleasure and your space to create, much like your hub wroting. Keep it up!
