I joined Easyhits4u in February 2009. That was after I set up my dear little blog[1].
I did not know how to attract readers to the blog. I wrote more than ten posts in my dear little blog and nobody was aware of its existence.
I asked about generating traffic to the blog in a discussion forum. Someone mentioned about using Easyhits4u, a manual traffic exchange.
I signed up for Easyhits4u and happily clicking away. I spent an hour a day surfing the various websites in Easyhits4u. I found that there were different types of websites submitted to Easyhits4u.
Most of the websites were business related. Those webmasters wanted us to know that they had a great product to sell. Some webmasters were making use of Easyhits4u to build up the mailing list.
There were a few blogs. I enjoyed reading the blog post. I remembered a blog talking about the grace of God. This blog had many Bible quotations, and many heart felt poems about God and nature.
About a month later, I came across a discussion thread in a forum. The blogger was angry and disappointed that Google terminated the Adsense account. That was how I knew that using traffic exchange violated the TOS of Google Adsense.
I stopped using traffic exchange. However, I did not cancel the membership in Easyhits4u. I did like to surf now and then to read the blogs.
I wondered why traffic exchange was still so popular even though Google Adsense explicitly disallowed the publishers to use. There must be some uses of traffic exchanges that I was not aware.
I checked the articles in Associated Content, Helium, and Hubpages to find the answers. Hubpages had the greatest collection of articles on the benefits of using traffic exchanges. Many webmasters did not have Google Adsense in their websites. They used traffic exchanges as a form of advertising method. Many bloggers with Google Adsense in their blogs used splash pages to attract readers from traffic exchanges.
I decided to test out Easyhits4u. I took off the Google Adsense from my newer blog[2]. This blog had lesser flow of traffic from search engines. To my surprise, I got four followers from Easyhits4u.
It was an eye opener. I did not know that it was so easy to get followers to my blog.
I started to spend more time with Easyhits4u. I managed to reach the minimum payout of $3 twice.
I noticed that there were more surfers during the weekdays than weekends. Sometimes, there were a thousand surfers online during the weekdays. The weekends attracted five to seven hundred surfers.
When Easyhits4u introduced the free splash pages, many bloggers and webmasters were overjoyed. They created a few thousand-splash pages. As a result, Easyhits4u never ran out of websites for surfers.
I guess that many webmasters understood the importance of grabbing the attention of the customers within fifteen seconds. That reminded me of the marketing courses at college.
My lecturer had told us that using big words and bright colors to package products, so that shoppers would be tempted to buy. He said that shoppers did not have the time or the patience to weigh the pros and cons. Most of them made buying decision under ten seconds.
I noticed the same logic in the design of the splash pages in Easyhits4u. The top splash pages had few words, and used brilliant colors to attract surfers to click through to the websites.
I hope my Marketing lecturer had a chance to surf at Easyhits4u. He could incorporate online marketing as part of Marketing and Branding course.
I will continue to surf at Easyhits4u. Now my problem is having too many credits. I guess I have to look into affiliate marketing, so that I can use up all the free credits.
