Here are some videos and pics from my trip to Bangkok back in late December early January 2008. I also visited Phuket and Pattaya but I will save those pics for a later hub.

Tuk Tuk ride in Bangkok

Thankfully it was a slow day on the streets of Bangkok.

Many Bangkokers were away for the holidays and according to my tour guide the city was very slow. I would hate to see what it was like if it was a normal busy day. The traffic smog was very irritating.

I just got off of one of those tour boats as we made our way to the Royal Palace. There is an outdoor market that you have to walk through and I kept kicking myself for eating breakfast back at the hotel. The smell of the outdoor cooking stalls was amazing.

I took this pic on December 29, 2007 and you can see the blue sky, the weather was fantastic.

Very touristy but a must see. The Grand Palace was fascinating. I highly recommend visiting Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha)

The next day I took a trip to see the Bridge on the River Kwai.

The Bridge on the River Kwai is about three hours from Bangkok. Through my tour guide I rented a taxi for the day. Believe it or not the day trip was less than $100 for the driver and the taxi. It was a great way to see the sights outside the city without being on a tight schedule.

Here are some pics on the way to the Bridge.

When you arrive at the bridge you are actually in Kanchanaburi.

The first thing you will see is the War Museum.

River Kwai Long-tail boat ride

I highly recommend taking a cruise on a long boat. You will see people who live on the river in boat houses, party boats for locals (Disco Duck) and sites ilke a Buddha on the Hill and a monkey show.

I was minding my own business checking out the street scene when I came upon this elephant. The attendants are very aggressive at seeking donations to feed the elephant. I decided to pass on that opportunity :)

Thai's have great respect for King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). Thai's offer gifts at the statute hoping to have their wishes granted. Tuesday is the busiest day as it is the the day Chulalongkorn was born.

You cannot visit Bangkok without checking out the adult entertainment areas

Since I am from Toronto I was upside down when it came to time in Bangkok. After cruising the bars in the Nana Plaza all night I was still awake at 8am when I took this picture.

After a partying hard New Years Eve I could not sleep, so I walked around the Arab area just east of Nana Plaza and found a great place for a foot massage on one of the side streets. It was not sleazy but rather a high end spa.

My last night in Bangkok my tour guide took me out for dinner. Up until then I was living on hotel and street food so I wanted to go to a nice seafood restaurant. She took me to Khinlom Chomsaphan (I think, I sorta forget the name)
