Hiccups

I've never had a puppy with the hiccups but my little kitten, Arrow, had the hiccups about two weeks ago. I felt so bad for him too. There wasn't much I could do for him. What I did do was try to get him to relax and take a drink of water and that seemed to help.

The hiccups did go away and he hasn't had them since. I think Arrow just ate his food too fast. He has a habit of eating way too fast and then running around like a little mental case afterwards. Arrow has a lot of energy and I mean a lot. He runs around the house just for the sake of running.

It maybe funny to see an animal have hiccups but it must be so uncomfortable for them. I felt so sorry for Arrow when he had his hiccups, even though they only lasted for about 5 minutes. I would suggest that if your puppy has hiccups all the time or if they don't go away soon, to take your puppy to the vet.

whena young animal such as a kitten or puppy hiccups, its actually a form of their bodies exercising and getting used to being outside of the womb

Thank you your comment Dr. Reed. I never knew that. That was very informative.
