61Hello I have been into fitness for years and I can tell you most of the advice I read is a bunch of hype. It all depends on the individuals lifestyle and genetics as to the outcome of their fitness success. However there is one sure fire way to burn calories and tone muscle. It is a form of pilates, and it is low impact as well as easy! This is something that you can do while sitting standing or laying in bed. Tense the muscles that you wish to tone by flexing them, when you feel that they are tightened hold that position until the muscles are burning. Repeat this all day long. Hi Amber,Im just wondering if the form of exercise that you are describing is called Isometrics.I heard about this years ago

It is similar in the sense that you are using your own weight as a counter balance... However Pilates is a little different because you are not just using your own weight but, you are tightening the muscles while doing so. In other words, say you are exercising doing scissor lifts (Laying on your side and lifting your leg in repatition, sooner or later it will give you results. If you do the same excersise and tighten every muscle in your body while doing that your results will be much quicker. Let me know if you have any other questions.
