My Garden in Paradise
50Memories
Violet was my Father’s sister
In honor of the colour of her eyes
Indigo Blues the music I loath,
Saffron Yellows enchant my garden
With hues so golden true
Scent of Citrus and Orange Blossoms
Fill the air so fresh, and lawns so green
Deep red, red roses every where
Mingling their haunting fragrance
Evergreens tall and majestic grow
Sentinels of the driveway to my home
The garden was always a riot of colour
And a sight of nature to behold
Those are the childhood memories
I savor, of our home of long ago
The colours of a true rainbow
Were there marking their presence
In every nook and corner
Of my family home of long ago
Now I sit and ponder of
The value of such solitude
No home so splendorous and garden divine
Have I seen of late
That gave us pleasure so complete.
A perfect setting for the lot of us
Our childish voices ringing the air
With lots of nooks and crannies
To play our games and hide and seek
