MySpace 2
66The new MySpace
At Midnight on November 10, 2008 MySpace launched a new version called Profile 2.0. Not only is the design different but also the features. Now some people are resistant to change and that’s fine. You don’t have to upgrade if you don’t want to. The best part is that you can try 2.0 and if you don’t like it you can go back to 1.0 (Click here for a tutorial on going back to 1.0) If you are one of those and want to keep your 1.0 layout, you can for now but MySpace is already phasing out 1.0. As of April 2, 2009 new MySpacers automatically receive a 2.0 profile without the option to go back to 1.0.
There are many reasons to upgrade . . .
Profile 2.0 loads faster than 1.0 so you don’t have to wait long to see someone’s page. Each module can be modified. Your comments section can be modified to display from 1 to 50 comments or hide them altogether. Unlike 1.0 the modules can be placed in any order, except for the top section that cannot be moved or hidden. So, for example, instead of the normal 1.0 layout right side: Extended Network followed by Blogs underneath it then Blurbs, Friend Space and finally Comments section.
You could switch it up in 2.0 and have it anyway you want. You do this by dragging and dropping the modules to your desired location. It’s awesome! There’s a built in area which allows you to change the font, color and background of your layout easily (Click here for tutorial on editing 2.0). You can also get layout codes from your favorite site just like you did in 1.0 but 1.0 layout codes will not work on 2.0. and vice versa.
MySpace 2.0 is very simple to use. You don't need codes to hide certain parts of your profile. It’s as easy as clicking the one you want to hide and pressing publish. There are many different page layouts to choose from. If you like your layout wide and/or centered with only one column you can do it on 2.0 without codes. Just click and you’re done.
In 1.0 you have a contact table with 8 options but in 2.0 you still have the same options on your drop down menus (except for Rank User – they did away with that) but only 3 are displayed on your profile. Click Here for some cool options if you're tired of the plain text Here's an example…
MySpace is always changing so it’s a little hard to keep up and that is why I’m here to help you out as best I can. Hope this info was helpful. Check out my site http://www.ourawesomeworld.com (it works best using Internet Explorer) and add me to your MySpace friends for site update bulletins. You can also follow me on twitter.
