These are My Tribes

This is a hub to show, illustrate, and find others that belong to the same Tribes that I d. It is for illustration, coordination, and edification.

My Tribes are (artially)

  • Writing / Writers / Poet
  • Role Playing Games
  • Pagan
  • Navy / Military
  • Computer Games
  • Music Lover
  • Philantropy / Non-Profits / Helping
  • And now the newest tribe, well opinion at least Only The Positive

There are others, but those are the main ones, the strongest ones

The primary ones so to speak.

Years ago when the Internet was young, I read somewhere that the different groups of people were like Tribes. At least 10 years ago the first Social Networking site was Tribe.net sitting over at http://www.tribe.net. It is still around as I found out tonight in fact.

Existing Tribes I associate myself with (major interests) Adding to the ones I started with already include  Philanthropy / Helping out my fellow man  Job Hunting / Job Sites / Internet Recruiting efforts Existing Tribes I could associate myself with (smaller interests) I have a huge array of things that actually interest me, as well as activities I have done in the past that I could affiliate with if I re-sparked my own interest The Tribes I am focusing on, to aid in leading I can get very spread out, I definitely can bite off a lot more than I can chew. So I am going to start to narrow, to focus, to sharpen the focus, so I can be more effective. Long have I been a multi-tasker. I usually succeed very well at it as well. But in the spirit of one of the new inspirations for my life, work, habits, time to reduce the multi-tasking down to a more Single Tasking, or Focused Tasking as I shall call it mentality.

So what is The Tribe you belong to? What drives you? What, as I read in an inspirational type message the other, What is it you cannot go a day without thinking about?

That is your Tribe. That is where you belong. That is what drives you and what you should focus and lead on.

So Tell Me What your Tribe Is!

Then lets talk about how to lead your tribe. I am learning now as I am going along.

Current Tribes in Action

So my current tribes in action include: 01/18/09 date

  • Gaming Working doing some advertising for this online game magazine www.weredragonmag.com. I am now the Advertising Person for Weredragon Magazine. Feel free to read the Advertising Guidelines at this page.
  • Looking into what it might take to create a Foundation to seek out funding and aid in grant making as well(Altering this into a Non Profit due to limitations on Foundations.)
  • Working to start a Community to improve the overall life in a distributed fashion among people with the same hobby as me
  • Considering starting up a non-profit. Not sure if it will be an incorporated one or not. Still deciding if I will or will not do so.
  • UPDATE: Need to get some free legal advice to support creating a 501(c)(3) as I cannot afford one as of yet. I know I will locate the funds or assistance somehow, until then I will work on my own documents.
  • Just posted on Ideablob a contest site essentially towards $10k prize, my idea being my Non Profit. Go read it on my Re-Training and Training Idea page.

Those are the highlights at this time.

12/07/08

It begins. I broached the idea to my wife last night. The one of me starting up a non-profit. Finally she said to me, to stop talking about it. Kinda funny. So today I grabbed sample Charter and Declaration of Trust from the IRS site, So I have started editing it for me. I sent an email off to the State Department asking a few questions, calling the City Government tomorrow to find out what they say. Not sure if I file for IRS first, the State, then City or what is the correct order.

But I have begun my voyage to becoming a non-profit and helping others more than just on my own.

More as it develops.

More difficult than I had expected. The Dip is a lot wider than I envisioned. So regrouping, I know the payoff will exceed the costs. Just need to build up a little more speed before crossing it.

Some more of my Tribale Moves

My Gaming Tribe

An article I just finished and posting to my various blogs and here as well.

2 Pounds or 350 Pennies

350 pennies, $3.50 is all it takes. All it takes to get what should have cost you about $20.00. All it takes is $3.50 and here is why you should spend that much money on a gaming magazine.

The focus is on Weredragon Magazine. This is the new addition to the online gaming resource world, which is found at http://weredragonmag.com. Yes I am associated with the magazine. Helping out where I can, mostly with the advertising focus. Yes we are looking for ads for the upcoming issues. Drop a line at advertising@weredragonmag.com for rates and to discuss this.

Next up is why you should go buy this pdf of a magazine. Consider this. For only 350 pennies you get 100 pages of magazine. Now go and pick up a copy of the only print magazine for OGL gaming that is out on the streets. A recent issue ran to 70 pages (chock full with advertising goodness) at $7.99 (minus my 10% discount at the large chain bookstore plus 7% tax here in Florida). Compare that to 100 pages (6 articles / columns and 3 adventures) for $3.50 and no tax for the online purchase. So right away this makes it a good deal. Dollar wise. Now if you go look at most adventures published now a days they run to about a dollar for every 5 pages of content. Go check that out yourself. So using that formula lets see what Weredragon Magazine Issue 1 should come in at.

So there is a total of 64pages of adventures. At $1 per 5 pages that comes out to be a cost of $12 rounded down. So already just paying $3.50 for this magazine makes it less than 1/4th the cost it really could be. There is enough incentive right there. Add in 12 pages of the articles and columns, and now there really is no reason to not spent some of your gaming dollars right there. Add in that the fact that an entire year of issues comes out to be a whopping $14.00 (about the single cost of a 90 page game book which is under the page count of issue 1) and there is no financial reason at all the not patronize Weredragon.

Content wise it is all 3.5 / OGL focused. Nothing for the new 4th Edition, but there are those online subscription magazine things for content available to those gamers. There are negotiations ongoing for official permission for content from other game systems as well. Making this as a purchase choice even easier to decide to take.

By the way the title for this came from wondering how much 350 pennies should weigh. So a little Internet sleuthing led me to 2.615 grams per penny making it 2 pounds (rounded down) for 350 pennies. A lot easier to just buy your own copy online instead of mailing 2 pounds to buy one otherwise. Flames arising from this article can be directed to wdfan@tkimwrsvc.com.

Some of my Tribal Moves

My Internet Marketing Tribe 12/05/08

This article here talking about SEO and Outing bad practices completely aligns with my next set of hubs dealing with how I feel the 'common' person and peoples of the country I live in (The US) can take back the economic stability of the nation regardless of the government or large corporations. Those will post in a few days once my notes are coherent.

Here is the link to why SEO Outing is Bad.

Included separately.

The Tribe of Science Fiction and Fantasy

This is of course what I read the most of. Lately that has not been the main case. But normally this is what I read, and the majority of what I write as well.

Just came across a nice blog talking about Fandom and Conventions located over on Today.Com. Go ahead and check it out, lots of cool tips in there.
