My brother has been in prison for nineteen years and has maintained his innocence through the whole ordeal. His biggest problem is that when he was young he was lured by the easy money of drug smuggling, to coin a phrase from the Glenn frey song. He was a high rolling dope dealer/smuggler for roughly six years. The DEA and FBI finally arrested him and 41 other peole in one of the biggest drug and weapon busts in Harris County , Texas. Operation bushmaster it was dubbed. To make a long story short he was sentenced to 3 five year sentences form the federal government and 3 five year sentences from the state of Texas. He served 3 1/2 in a federal institution and was released on parole to finish out his sentence under the supervision of both a state of Texas parole officer and a federal parole officer. He had to report to each once a week.

I know how he was living because we were splitting the rent on a place. My brother has always had no problem attacting women. He became involved with a woman who was to ruin his life. I had moved out and he got a place with her. On the few visits I made to their house I could see they didn't really get along. But at the time I had some things going on in my life that I was struggling with and trusted him to be the brother I knew and somehow make things work. I was wrong. He finally told her he wanted to break up, she was having sex with their neighbors down the street to obtain drugs. He was no longer in that business having started a carpet cleaning company in Houston.

It was after she became convinced he was truly through with her that she concocted the story that he had molested her daughter. I know this is untrue because although he was kind to the child he didn't show her any overt sexual attention. As I said before his problem has always been getting rid of women not getting them. Anyway an examination was done on her daughter and she had scarring on her vagina, the expert said they were old scars however. My brother had been out of the penitentiary less than a year. Was no way it was him and with the woman's history of sexual promiscuity God only knows who molested the child. They refused to do any DNA testing which with the way they are releasing innocent people in the Texas penal system at this time it may be just as well.

They railroaded him and charged him with aggravated sexual assault of a minor and gave him 30 years. He has been there 19 years now. I have been writing the innocence projects in Texas and trying to get him some help. When my father died 3 years ago my stepmother paid an attorney to represent him before the parole board. This attorney turned out to be useless has done nothing for him except take the $5000 from my family.

Anyway, there are so many innocent people incarcerated. One day maybe this will change. For those who put them there I hope that one day God will teach them what he meant when he said " JUDGE NOT LEST YE BE JUDGED" I believe there is a special place in hell for lazy liars and that's what the people are that put my childhood friend and brother back in the penitentiary when he was trying to do right!!!
