And the winners are...

Sorry, I had to go with that text-capsule title :(

But really there are certain presents that I think are better than others. I'm not too much of a commercial person (although I admit everyone has a little industry and capitalism in them) and so I think the best presents are things you can't just buy in a store. Though stores can help you out a little.

  • Photo-printed objects

These are definitely things they won't sell in a store. Take a picture of you or your friend or loved one or pet, etc. and slap them on a mug, a shirt, or even a dinner plate (they sell those at Wal-Mart). They're personalized, fairly cheap, easy (you can iron-on or give the picture to a store and they'll do it for you), and one-of-a-kind.

  • Homemade things

Duh. Making bracelets, scarves, and all of those commonplace things are so much better than finding them at Target. Even if they look like crap. End of story.

  • Scrapbooks, video, collages, etc.

In that case, anything with pictures or images in general is nice. And they'll last a long time.

  • Baked goods

I love getting cakes and pies and brownies! They don't last as long as photo albums but they taste way better. And hey, you can decorate them and make them extra-awesome.

  • Mix tapes or CDs

It really shows you know someone when you can make them a cassette or CD with music they like (or that you know they don't like and so they put it on to anger you). And it's super-cheap! And you can design them to make them all pretty :D

  • Good luck charms, etc.

How can you go wrong by wishing someone the best? I just got my boyfriend a lucky cat and I know he'll love it. They also have ones that bring good health, financial luck, and love :) But hopefully you won't get a rabbit's foot. That's just gross.

  • Things from which part of the proceeds go to good causes

Sometimes you can go to websites or stores and profits from certain objects will go to charities. Tell this to the receiver of the gift and they'll love you. And you'll love yourself.
