The opposition leader in Myanmar (formerly Burma), Aung San Suu Kyi, has been charged for violating the house arrest at the unauthorized visit of an American to her residence and her trial will begin May 18.

San Suu Kyi, 63 years, has spent 13 of the last 19 years prison, she is in a very precarious health and the new indictment comes just when she is ending yet another extension of house arrest that expires on May 27. With the Nobel winner were also indicted two home employees. The fact mentioned by the indictment it's the act of an American citizen of 53 years, John William Yeattaw, who ten days ago he introduced furtively at her residence by swim in order to visit Mrs San Suu Kyi and had been arrested for this .

Suu Kyi has been translated from her residence in the notorious Insein Prison in Yangon (the former capital Rangoon), known for inhumane conditions and torture of political prisoners, including many Buddhist monks. "The authorities have indicted Aung San Suu Kyi and two domestic workers in accordance with Article 22" of the law against subversion, said the lawyer Hla Myo Myint. Yeattaw will also be tried by a tribunal of the regime of Myanmar (formerly Burma).

Some activists have made it clear that the action of the generals of the junta, which deprive the people Myamar of the most basic rights with a ferocious dictatorship imposed more than 40 years ago and involved in a harsh repression of the so-called "saffron revolution" of 2007 seeks to remove San Suu Kyi from politics in any possible elections of 2010. Useless in recent years, attempts by the United Nations to lead the country on the path of democracy, with the accomplices of the international community vigorously against China, economic power trading partner of the regime. Myanmar has not yet recovered from the devastation inflicted by Cyclone Nargis a year ago.

The United States has addressed an appeal to the Burmese regime to release "immediately", the dissident. "Our view is that she should not be under house arrest," said the spokesman for the State Department, Ian Kelly, "she should be released immediately."

Piero Fassino, EU Special Envoy for Burma, said that there is "no justification" for the arrest, much less for a re-arrest. " We need to 'press in every way - continued Fassino - because San Suu Kyi is freed, "but also because they have to freed the two thousand political prisoners who are in prison in Burma. " The international community must exert pressure because the country "will finally open a new phase based on a path of democratic transition leading to elections in 2010 as a true elections, free and transparent elections", which today "is not the case."

Me that I'm nobody I say:

It's not possible that there are still similar situations in the world.

All politicians have condemned the regime but they are not allowed to say anything more because behind the regime there's China and no one has the courage to say clearly to the Chinese government that they can not help and cover of killers, particularly in these moments of crisis where the China's state owns 80% of western public debt in particular of the U.S.

But we "the nobody" of the web must act!

Even a simple comment or a post on a blog, the important thing is to let know the leaders of Burma and their Chinese friends that we do not like what they're doing.

What is happening in Burma is abhorrent and I think you are right, does not help that the politicians of the Western world condemn only with the words the Burma criminals regime, we must engage China, which is certainly not the model country for human rights

Ok We all agree...but nobody reacts!!?!

Use force and weapons I think is wrong and against my personal principles, in this world of globalization, what is important and vital to a nation? : money and trade!

Well! then do not buy more products made in China until the government does not respect fundamental human rights and condemns formally (ending the support) the junta of Burma.

it is my opinion that today the governments of nations (not the population) longer fear a "real" economic embargo than a nuclear bomb
