There has been written a lot about ADD and what is true or not. There are many misconceptions of this disorder and we need to keep things simple so people can understand the true nature of attention deficit disorder.

Myth 1- Attention deficit Disorder is just an excuse for parents that have trouble kids.

It has been proven by some studies that ADD is a biological disorder that is based on hyperactivity, lack of attention impulsiveness, disorganization and more.

Myth 2- Kids with ADD are not different that everyone else, everyone has difficulties paying attention.

The true is that although most children experience for a period of time some of the symptoms of ADD, the reality is that when they grow up their behavior changes. So if the symptoms of ADD persist in a child even when his age does not correspond to that behavior then there is a problem.

Myth 3- Just a Few kids have ADD

Is estimated that about 2 million of children in the USA have ADD and 15 million Americans suffer from it, so its not just a few people, but people from all ages.

Myth 4- ADD can be prevented

Experts dont know the real cause of ADD but food, sugar, poor diet and other things like this does not cause ADD. In reality ADD is a biological or genetics cause.

Myth 5- children with ADD are hyperactive

The truth is that not all children with ADD are hyperactive, in fact many are not. For example is known that usually men have ADHD with hyperactivity, while women have more commonly ADD that does not show hyperactivity, instead they have disorganization, lack of attention, cant get anything done.

Myth 6- The longer you wait to treat ADD the more chances are that they will grow and overcome it.

The reality is that most adolescents continue with this disorder and even adults. The only difference is that mature adults can control their impulsiveness behavior.

Those are some important myths about attention deficit disorder that you should be aware. This disorder should be treat it by a professional as soon as possible so he can diagnose it correctly and help you overcome it.

However, there are people with Attention deficit disorder that have used their abilities to achieve great success in many areas of their life. There are company leaders with ADD that earn millions, they might have difficulty focusing on one thing, but they do multiple task and assign people to each one, they are very intelligent and sometimes ADD is even an advantage for people that learn to control it in their own benefit.
