NBA is heating up
48Dominant Lakers
The Western Conference Picture
National basketball association is heating up. Just the first round of the playoffs show that everything is on the line and all teams want to give it their all.
Here are my not-so-good bets:
1. San Antonio Spurs Vs. New Orleans Hornets
The New Orleans Hornets have been in a run lately. They showed that their lack of playoff experience is not the deciding factor of their massacre of the Dallas Mavericks, Chris Paul, the leading hornet that brought his team to the playoffs, and Byron Scott, the reigning coach of the year, showed that under his tutelage the hornets could be, and will be the deadliest team ever.
On the other hand the San Antonio Spurs also showed that they're the team to beat after all they are the reigning champions. After beating the Phoenix Suns 4-1 again, the Spurs are likely to go to the NBA finals again and claim the throne. I would have to pick Spurs on this one, i mean the hornets are on a role right now but i'm going to use my "experience" excuse. Yes, the Hornets decimated the Mavericks, no question, they're good, they're on a roll, but i'm just going to do my basketball math. Hornets + Paul, West, Pargo, Scott = Win, Spurs + Duncan, Parker, Ginobili, Popovich = Win. Both teams are equal in terms of defense and offense, both Paul and Parker are hot although Paul has a slight edge. Duncan and West are battling it out and Pargo is a reliable back-up but never count out the 6th man of the season. I think Spurs only edge is its Playoff and Championship experience. The Mavericks was not able to use this advantage, they where busy being pummeled into smithereens. Spurs have got to show that they are the boss which is Hornet's mentality. They have to make the hornet's question themselves. So i would go with Spurs in a very very tight series.
2. Los Angeles Lakers Vs. Utah Jazz
The Jazz went jazzing their way in the playoffs by beating the unlucky Rockets. The Lakers on the other hand with their MVP Kobe Bryant ate the Denver Nuggets whole, even with Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony as seasoning.
This is a no-brainer, I have to be a die-hard fan to pick Jazz to win. I'm not underestimating the Jazz its just I'm overestimating the Lakers. Its not that their weak its just the Lakers are so strong that they could beat the Jazz even if its a bad night. Lakers have a weak interior defense but their cloak of invincibility called Kobe Bryant is unstoppable, along with his posse.
So the totality of this Situation?
Lakers and Spurs for the Western Conference Title. My prediction? Very tight to the point that i don't know who wins, safe enough huh?
Title: Up for Grabs
The Eastern Conference Picture
The Eastern Conference however have a different picture. The Eastern Conference title is still up for grabs. Although Western Conference has the deeper and tough conference I feel that the Eastern conference final 4 all have the shot to win it, all have the ability to win it.
1. Boston Celtics Vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
After a grueling series the Celtics won the series after 7 games. The hawks gave the Celts a little scare but destryoed the Hawks on the 7th game but their weakness has been exposed. On the other hand the Cavaliers, with LeBron on the helm were catapulted to contendership by picking the Washington Wizards apart again 3 years in a row after harsh words and loads of flagrant fouls. I'm rooting for the Cavaliers to win this series but picking Boston to eventually get hold of LeBron (if they can) in 7 games but don't expect to see them in the Finals.
2. Orlando Magic Vs. Detroit Pistons
Orlando has shown its maturity along with Dwight Howards age and Detroit are unstoppable...if they just focus. Orlando defeated the Toronto Raptors 4-1 and Detroit came from behind win against Philadelphia 76ers 4-2. I'am for Orlando hands down but picks Detroit to win. Detroit is still unstoppable, their are just confused Titans right now but if they could get they're act together they can soon find themselves champs again, remember they defeated the Star-Studded Lakers to win the 2005 NBA trophy. Orlando on the other hand has to wake up their sleeping giant in Dwight Howard, i feel he's not playing his full potential and hope the monster will wake up to steal an upset.
