North Carolina has a rich history with all kinds of death and tragedy down thru the years and it is often death and tragedy that are associated with paranormal activity. The original building built at this location was originally built as a church over a hundred years ago. In 1903 it was rebuilt into the structure that exists there today. The location was taken over by the city in the late 1940's just after the war and was turned into the theater that is there today.

Now none of that would have been strange but some of the people that used the place as a church never gave it up. Its said that if you walk by on rainy nights you can hear people inside the old church building singing hymns.

People also claim to see ghosts in the building all the time. The ghost of a young girl of 13-14 is seen often in different parts of the building wearing clothes from the late 1890's era. She is seen hurrying along and looks quite solid until she walks into a wall and vanishes. She never speaks but has been seen in the building for 75 or more years.

Queen's College in Charlotte North Carolina appears to be a hot bed of paranormal activity. In one dorm is the unhappy weeping ghost of a young woman who was in love with another woman. When her parents found out she killed herself by cutting her wrists in a girls dorm. When she was found the next morning she had written her lovers name Julie in blood on a wall and down thru the years people in the dorm claim to see Julie written in blood on the wall. People also claim to hear the girls ghost weeping and some even claim to see her with wrists cut walking in the bathroom.

Several years later another male student hung himself one night and the next morning his body was found swinging from a rope. Some people have claimed to see the ghost of the body swinging from his rope and have even called for Police only to have the Police find no hanging student when they arrive.And it has happened several times over the years.

Some people have claimed to see Civil War era soldiers in the area of Queens College and on the grounds and many people say that in very small area that includes the college that over the years many people including the two mentioned above have committed suicide. Many more than in any other area of the city.

The trail has a old Mill House and a pair of human skeletons were found in the area of the Mill House. At the time they were found in the 1980's the state medical examiner who examined them said they had been there for 50 or more years. The skeletons were found under the old Mill House and a solid silver heart on a chain was around one of the skeletons necks. Once the skeletons were sent and examined by the medical examiner it was determined that it was a male and a female skeleton both in their early to mid 20's. And no one has ever discovered who they were.

People often claim to see a dark haired young man walking with a young beautiful woman with long dark hair walking near where the bridge is in the photo to your right. Some people have even told of seeing the young woman standing and staring down at a silver heart around her neck. Are they seeing the ghosts of the young couple who's skeletons were found. It is said if you approach the young couple or speak to them they vanish at once. Who were they no one may ever know. But its nice to think that they are still there in love forever and together forever.

The original Latta family is said to haunt the Latta Plantation. Employees who work at the plantation say they hear voices of a loud argument and often hear the laughter of children. A young woman in a yellow dress is seen often just inside the front door of the house. Some people say she is seen carrying a basket of flowers.

There is a cane on the tour of the house that is often seen to move on its on. A man with mutton side burns is often seen going up the steps. He appears to be in a hurry and some people have claimed he ordered them from the house. No one has any ideal who he is. There are also often wonderful smells of apple pie cooking and people ask about it but no pie is cooking.

Doors in the house often open and shut on their own as do lights through out the building. People claim to hear a cat meowing but no cat is seen.
