NEW WIRELESS READING DEVICE-AND THE FUTURE OF BOOKS?
51a torn-page issue
The amazonkindle is just one kind of wireless reading device on the market, being sold on www.amazon.com for just under 400 dollars.
Some claim it is the future of reading. Does this mean e-books will eventually take over the market? What will happen to traditional, paper-based books?
The argument could be made that paper-based books have a negative environmental impact, but there is nothing like holding a beloved book in you hands and turning its pages, watching it age with you, handing it to trusted people to borrow or give as a gift. Will e-books have the same charm? Does reading an e-book take the poetry out of reading? Will holding a traditional book in one's hand become an antiquated novelty over the course of the next century.
These are all questions I hope our future readers will consider.
