NFL Gameday Predictions Week 5, 10/11/2009

NFL Week 5

In the NFL, week 5 should produce the "changing of the gun" (if you will). There are a few teams, that if they don't produce a win this week, will probably change their quarterback and perhaps their head coach. I will also give you my Game of The Week pick. Here are my predictions for the week.

Bengals at Ravens - The Ravens are coming off a disappointing loss to the Patriots. That defense should be fired up. The Bengals have won 3 in a row. Palmer will have to take what the defense gives him. Ochocinco will not have the big plays but should produce a few catches. Key to game: Can Bengals establish a Run game?

Ravens 24 - Bengals 13

Browns at Bills - This is a tossup. The Bills defense is giving up 150 yards rushing per game. Cleveland has the backfield to produce big numbers. The Bills need to get T.O. and Evans more involved in the offense. The O-line needs to provide better pass protection. Key to Game: Browns establishing the run.

Browns 17 - Bills 10

Redskins at Panthers - The Redskins only 2 victories have come against winless opponents. Fortunately, their opponent this week, has not won a game. The Panthers have a recipe for losing; they can't produce points and their defense can't stop anyone. Will Coach Zorn feel the pressure of the team hiring Coach Lewis as a consultant, without consulting with him. Friction?Key to game: Redskins need Cambell to be sufficient with passing the ball.

Redskins 24 - Panthers 13

Steelers at Lions - When it rains it pours. The lowly Lions may be without starting QB Stafford. They may also be without WR Calvin Johnson. Daunte Culpepper is the backup QB. The Steelers may have realized that running the ball is their true identity. Key to game: Steelers need to continue to run the ball which should open up the passing game.

Steelers 28 - Lions 7

Cowboys at Chiefs - The Cowboys need a good showing against the Chiefs. They may be without WR Roy Williams who has cartiledge damage in his ribs. Romo is putting himself in a bad situation, with subpar performances. The Chiefs are starting the season horribly. Especially on offense. Unfortunately they are playing a Cowboy defense who is getting stronger every week. Key to game: Cowboys need to jump out early and take advantage of the Chiefs struggling defense.

Cowboys 38 - Chiefs 6

Raiders at Giants - The Giants have the top-ranked defense. The Raiders have the leagues worst offense. Any hope that the Raiders had, went out the window, when Manning practiced Wednesday. ( Manning had a heel injury) The raiders runningback McFadden will be out for a few weeks. Key to Game: Giants need to jump out early so they can rest Manning.

Giants 35 - Raiders 0

Buccaneers at Eagles - The Eagles will get McNabb and Westbrook back for this game. The Buccaneers defense is giving up almost 400 yds per game. Coming off a bye week, the Eagles were also able to work a little more on their Wildcat offense with Vick. Key to game: McNabb not throwing interceptions and not getting injured.

Eagles 27 - Buccaneers 10

Vikings at Rams - The Vikings are 4-0. They are coming off a big win against the Packers on Monday night. The Rams Have lost 14 straight. It doesn't seem to be getting any better for them. Key to game: Vikings need to jump out early and give Favre a chance to rest late in the game.

Vikings 35 - Rams 6

Falcons at 49ers - Matt Ryan seems to be improving every game. With the Falcons coming off a bye-week, they should be well rested. The 49ers, who are 3-1, still need to committ more to the running game. Key to game: Can 49ers run the ball successfully?

Falcons 24 - 49ers 20

Patriots at Broncos - The Patriots just beat a good defense in the Ravens. The Broncos are coming off a big win against the Cowboys. QB, Orton of the Broncos, has done a good job of managing the offense. Although he has missed some big plays downfield. Brady is getting more comfortable with staying in the pocket. But, the Patriots running game may struggle with Fred Taylor being out. Key to game: Can Orton make some of the big throws downfield?

Patriots 27 - Broncos 17

Texans at Cardinals - The Texans are coming off, by-far, their best defensive game. Their offense is playing fairly. The Cardinals are just not putting up the numbers or scoring the points. Warner is struggling and the receivers are just not making the big plays. Key to game: Houston will have to control the game on the ground. Can their defensive secondary stop the big play receivers ofthe Cardinals?

Texans 20 - Cardinals 13

Colts at Titans - The Colts are 4-0. Manning is leading his team as usual. The Titans are 0-4. A complete turn-a-round from last season. But the Titans are still dangerous. Key to game: The Colts cannot overlook the Titans. The divisional rivalry between these two, should bring out the best in both teams. Key to game: Can the Titans find that chemistry that allowed them win 10 consecutive games in 2008?

Colts 31 - Titans 10

Jaguars at Seahawks - The Jaguars are doing what all teams hope to do; get better every game. The Seahawks are doing the exact opposite. Although Seattle's backup QB, Seneca Wallace is completing 66 percent of his passes, thye are hoping to have Hasselbeck on the field Sunday. Jaguars' QB Garrard is hoping to have a continuation from last week where he passed for 323 yards and 3 touchdowns. key to game: Can the Seahawks mount a offensive attack, while stopping the Jaguars passing attack?

Jaguars 34 - Seahawks 9

Monday Night

Jets at Dolphins - The Jets defense will be tested by the Dolphins prolific offense. Can the Jets' QB, Sanchez, get over last weeks lost to the Saints. Key to game: The jets defense must stop the Dolphins wildcat attack.

Jets 27 - Dolphins 17

Besides the Texans/Cardinals game, you're predictions look similiar to mine.

The Texans gave up a league's worst 430 yards/game through the first three weeks until they shut out the Raiders last week.

The Cardinals are coming off a bye and will be looking to win.

Cardinals 27 - Texans 23

I'm relieved you picked the Redskins over the Panthers this week.

I think Campbell and Zorn get that offense clicking in a comeback effort during the second half. The Skins' D will step up and display their money's worth.

Redskins 22 - Panthers 19
