NFL Week 9

After the end of the first half of the season, some teams still haven't found themselves, some teams have showed glimpses of their potential, some are starting to put it all together, some have gone into a skid after starting off great and others are just down right "winning". I will offer a brief preview into each game and give my predictions. There are some tough games to pick this week.

Previews & Predictions

Ravens @ Bengals - Baltimore should have a lot of confidence and motivation going into this game. Confidence-They gave the Broncos their first loss last week. Motivation- Not only do they need this when to stay in the hunt in a very tough division, they also lost to the Bengals last month. The Bengals are coming off a bye week. They entered the bye week with drilling of the Bears, 45-10. The Bengals are tied atop their division at 5-2 with the Steelers.

Bengals 27 - Ravens 20

Dolphins @ Patriots - Miami beat the Patriots at home last year 38-13, when they unveiled their Wildcat offense. New England then returned the favor by beating Miami at home 48-28. If Miami can take a two score lead, it can control the clock with it's running attack. But a very young secondary seems like wounded prey for Patriot's QB Tom Brady.

Patriots 38 - Dolphins 35

Chiefs @ Jaguars - The Jaguars can win this game, it just depends on which Jaguars team decides to show up. They have been very inconsistent this year to say the least. The Chiefs need to establish some type of running game. Unfortunately, they will have to do it without suspended RB, Larry Johnson.

Jaguars 24 - Chiefs 17

Texans @ Colts - The Colts didn't look very sharp last week winning 18-14 against the 49ers. They are struggling with their ground game. That hurts them because some of their biggest plays come off of play-action. But I expect QB Peyton Manning to be like the competitive Micheal Jordan. After A sub-par game, you know the next game spells trouble for the other team. This is a big game stage for the Texans. They have never been two or three games over 500 this late into the season. They also have a chance to prove they are for real this season.

Colts 40 - Texans 30

Cardinals @ Bears- The Cardinals do not look like a team that made it to the Superbowl last year. The Bears are also struggling this year. This game will come down to which team decides it is time to play football again. The Bears beat up on the Browns last week and the Cardinals looked like football was the last thing on their mind in the lost to the Panthers.

Cardinals 24 - Bears 23

Redskins @ Falcons - Washington has the same problems it has been having; sub-par running game, a depleted offensive line and a GM that doesn't truly believe in it's head coach. The Falcons have lost two big games, but don't expect them to struggle this week.

Falcons 31 - Redskins 20

Packers @ Buccaneers- Green Bay needs to fix its pass protection problem. QB Aaron Rodgers is being hit/sacked too many times. Fortunately for Green Bay they shouldn't have that problem this week. Unless they can get pressure on Rodgers, the Bucs will go one more week without a victory.

Packers 27 - Bucs 13

Panthers @ Saints- The Saints love playing at the Superdome, but so do the Panthers. The Saints have lost 7 straight at home to the Panthers. The Saints have shown that they can win big this year, even when coming from behind. QB Drew Brees has an unlimited amount of weapons at his disposal; players with big play speed, size and capabilities. The Panthers appear to be getting in stride. They just need to continue to play turnover free football. They also need to establish a strong running presence against the Saints.

Saints 48 - Panthers 27

Lions @ Seahawks- This is probably the tossup game of the week. The Seahawks are struggling. The Lions are struggling also. The home field will play a difference in this game. But expect the Lions to play better than they have.

Seahawks 20 - Lions 17

Titans @ 49ers- QB Vince Young made his first start of the season. RB Chris Johnson took a lot of pressure off of Young by having a remarkable day running the ball for the Titans. That allowed Young to manage a nice game without the pressure of having to pass on every down. The 49ers gave the Colts all they could handle last week. Coach Singletary will use that to motivate his team this week. If Young uses his legs in the pocket, he should free up some receivers underneath. This should be a good game.

Titans 23 - 49ers 20

Chargers @ Giants - The Chargers need to beat a team with a winning record. The Giants are on a 3 game losing streak. But it is not just the Giants offense that is playing poorly, the defense has given up 115 points in three games and over 1,170 yards. Manning will not continue to play poorly. The Chargers will need a strong rushing attack to keep that Giant offense off the field.

Chargers 27 - Giants 23

Cowboys @ Eagles- Some say this game isn't important. That's is only if you are not a Cowboy or an Eagle. This game may be the decider in both teams direction for the rest of the season. The Eagles are out to prove they are the best in the NFC East. While the Cowboys are trying to prove they have arrived this season. Can the Cowboys stop the big plays by Eagle's WR Deshaun Jackson? Can the Eagle's stop Cowboy TE Jason Whitten? Will the Eagle's be able to protect QB McNabb? Will another WR emerge for the Cowboys? Can the Eagle's control the Cowboys' 'three headed monster" rushing attack of Barber, Jones and Choice?

Cowboys 24 - Eagles 23

Monday Night Football

Steelers @ Broncos- The Broncos loss their first game of the season last week. Their exposure by the Ravens' defense may be their downfall. The Steelers have been playing good football since starting the season 1-2. Can the Broncos rebound after last weeks loss?

Steelers 27 - Broncos 20

Nice picks. Looks like you are 10-1 so far. Hopefully, going on 10-2. Good calls on the Titans and Chargers.

Well, my Week 9 picks almost went perfect thru Sunday night. I was 11-1. Greenbay let Tampa Bay get their first victory that accounted for my only lost of the day.

acanderson24 . .wow do you have a crystal ball.. I just read this one and as I went I was amazed at how you got them all right(cept the Bucs) and some pretty darn close to the scores. . I bet when you looked in your ball maybe they didnt know that Josh Freeman was going to make his debut;) if I was a betting person I would take the Steelers tonight just cause you picked them! WTG! You rock:)))))

can you look again and see if just maybe the Giants are going to resurface anytime soon this season??
