NFL Week 9 Picks
82Another exciting week came to an end last night with the Saints trashing the falcons. With that I managed to get 9 out of 13 games correct! Here are my picks for Week 9.
Redskins @ Falcons: Redskins couldn't lose this past week well that's because they were on Bye. Unfortunately for them they play the Falcons in Atlanta. You would expect the Redskins to come out strong after the bye but playing a Falcons team is no easy task. Meanwhile, Falcons are coming off of a Monday night loss to the Saints and have lost back to back games for the first time in year and a half. The losses will stop after this game is over for the Falcons unfortunately the Redskins are going to go home as losers yet again. Final score Falcons 31, Redskins 10.
Ravens @ Bengals: Ravens easily whooped the previously undefeated Denver Broncos at home last week and are now traveling to Cincinnati. Cincinnati easily dominated the Bears in Week 7 and should definitely go toe to toe with the Ravens. I predict the Bengals to win at home in a close game against rivals. Final Score Bengals 24, Ravens 21.
Chiefs @ Jaguars: Ah the poor Chiefs, not only do they have disgruntled players they also have a tough schedule. With this week's match up against the pocket hercules a.k.a Maurice Jones-Drew should not fair well for the Chiefs. Jags were decimated by a previously win less Titans team. I expect the Jags to release their frustration against the Chiefs and record a victory. Final score, Jaguars 38, Chiefs 10.
Packers @ Buccaneers: Packers travel to sunny Tampa this weekend and try to forget they lost to Brett Favre this past week. Packers should pull out a victory against the win less Bucs and send the Bucs scrambling again leave them wondering if they are NFL's worst team this year. Final score Packers 45, Bucs 16.
Dolphins @ Patriots: Are the Patriots back to their 2007 form? After easily winning the last two games with a combined score of 94-7 they should receive a challenge both offensively and defensively from the Dolphins. However, the Pats are now rested and their jet lag should no longer be an issue so I am picking the Patriots to be all over the Dolphins. Final Score Patriots 38, Dolphins 28.
Texans @ Colts: Both of these teams are playing at an exceptional level. The Colts have been pulling out victories late in the game and their defense has just been stellar but the Texans have been winning games on the road as well. They easily embarrassed the Bills at their home this past week and dare I say they will do the same to the Colts? Well I am picking the Texans to win this match not only because it is a divisional match up, but also it is almost like a rivalry. Final score Texans 35, Colts 28.
Cardinals @ Bears: Cardinals were embarrassed in front of their home crowd this past week by the lowly Panthers from Carolina. What's worse for them? They now have to travel and must win their game against the Bears. Yes I said must win, why? because Cardinals play in the worst division known to sports and yet they have a slim lead over the 49ers for division lead. If the 49ers manage to win this week and the Cardinals lose then there will be a roll shift in division standings. There needs to be a sense of urgency in Arizona and it is clear they miss Todd Haley their old offensive coach.
As for the Bears, this game will define which direction they are heading. They played the lousy Browns last week and now have a true challenge in front of them with a more potent offense. I am picking the Cardinals to win this game because their defense will be able to pick apart Cutler and Forte has not been playing at the same level as he did last year. Final score Cardinals 31, Bears 20.
Lions @ Seahawks: Are the Lions a victim of their schedule this year? Or are they the same Lions of previous years? Well they could not win against the Rams this past week and I see no hope for them against the Seahawks. The Seahawks tend to win against team that should be playing in the Canadian Football League. The Seahawks fans will have something to cheer about this weekend because the Seahawks win 34-6.
Chargers @ Giants: Giants have lost 3 straight games and the Chargers are coming to town? uh-oh! Chargers are coming to east coast after easily winning against the lowly Raiders. I think weather will be the reason Chargers lose this game rather than the Giants winning on their own. I see turnovers on both sides but the Giants should be able to capitalize on these errors. Final score Giants 24, Chargers 17.
Titans @ 49ers: Titans finally won and they looked like the team of last year that won its division. They did beat the Jags who are not only their division rivals but also a team with a great running ability. Although MJD ran all over the Titans they still managed to win the game and this weeks match up should be very similar. I think Frank Gore will run all over the Titans but just like last week the Titans will find a way to win and just like last the 49ers will manage to lose to another AFC South foe. Final score Titans 28, 49ers 21.
Cowboys @ Eagles: This Sunday night prime time match up will define the rest of the season for both teams. Both of these teams are playing at a high level and this match up will come down to which team prepared more. The edge goes to the Eagles for two reasons, it is a home game and of course its the arch nemesis Cowboys. This will make a for a great Sunday night game as the Eagles pick apart Tony Romo and company. It should be a chilly night in Philly and I expect the Eagles to use more of Michael Vick in "wildcat" plays. I don't expect DeSean Jackson to get another TD of 50+ yards but I do expect him to open up plays for rookie Maclin because Jackson will demand double coverage. As for the Cowboys Asante Samuel should cover Miles Austin which might open up more slant routes for other receivers on the Cowboys. Eagles have to play stellar against the Cowboys receiver and shut them down completely in order to win. I pick Eagles to win 28-24.
Steelers @ Broncos: This Monday night match up against the surprising Broncos and defending Super Bowl Champs should be a defensive struggle. Considering it is a Monday night game in November and in Denver I hope there is snow on the ground. I expect a lot of run plays that will open up for small passes that turn into big plays for either team. I think the Steelers will edge out the Broncos because the Ravens provided a lot of holes in Broncos team that can be exploited. Final score Steelers 20, Broncos 14.
With that I submit my picks to you, do you agree? disagree? Your feedback is most welcome.

hi,
Wow, these are nice predictions, I dont think the Giants are done yet, I have the same opinion with dohn here. Although I am from Dallas, am not a fan of Cowboys, but I agree with you that they gonna lose this one. And yes I am a Steeler fan, and I agree again with your predictions, they are going to win the game against the Broncos! prediction!
I dont think the Giants are done either they just had the luxury of easy match ups (except for the Cowboys) in it first 5 games. Saints exposed them to rest of the NFL and they have not been the same. Plus I agree Eli's Heel might have something to do with it as well.
Same for the Broncos, they were exposed last week against the Ravens and I think they will have a little losing streak going on for them as well. Thank you both for your comments!
Not sure I agree with your choices for the Bengals over the Ravens. The Ravens are just so good on both sides of the ball.
Also their is no way the Titans will beat the 49ers. Vince Young helped them last week but if Gore is running all day long your offense will never be on the field.
I think the Ravens miss Rex Ryan very much and their defense is no longer the stellar defense of the past, I think they can keep up with the Bengals who did manage to put a lot of points on the bears 2 weeks ago. As for the Titans beating out the 49ers, I can see it happening because the Titans defense did allow Maurice Jones-Drew run all over them yet they only managed to give up 13 points to the Jags. I think the Jags are a better team the 49ers who are on a losing streak.
I would not be surprised to see the Chiefs win. It will be tight.
jobister , have to agree with Dohn I too want to see a Cowgirl win . .ditto in regard to the GMen . they just need to get their groove back and I hoping and praying that they find it. . Pats over Miami .. Im taking Miami on this one. . and I am a Manning fan so for me its the Colts . .they got the right stuff and I think they are going to take that one!
Thumbs up on this Hub. . I love the way you write it all!
Thanks for the nice words wavegirl! Seeing as you are a Giants fan, I think our arch nemesis would be the cowgirls! Although the Eagles are a threat to any team in the NFC so I don't blame you wishing them a loss
My first love was the Cowgirls. . but then they def were the Boys. . Americas Team . .Roger The Dodger, Drew Pearson, Tony Dorsett. . Randy White. . its the team I think that made me fall in love with football in the first place. . so a special place they will forever have in my heart. . BUT I am a tried and true NY girl who loves the NY Giants!
As always, I enjoy your picks - especially the wrong ones. LOL
Very good showing. Looks like you were on all the right upsets, except the Titans beating the Colts. Sometimes you gotta stretch a bit though.

Although I actually want the Cowgirls to win against the Eagles (your team?) I don't think it's gonna happen, as the Cowboys will get exposed for who they are. The reason is because we'll then have a 3-way tie for first place in the NFC East, record wise. I'll be shocked more than anything if they end up winning and if they lose, they may lose by a lot, just like the Giants on Sunday.
Speaking of which, I don't think the Giants are done, but by the way they've been playing, I'm grateful that they are on the right side of 5-3, but they still have a lot to prove obviously.
Good luck, bro.
