NUMB (A Poem)
67
She has no memory,
How she came to be here.
But as she writes,
It starts to become clear.
Through the enigmas,
And strangest of things,
In this abstract place,
No feeling it brings.
Her fingers type the words,
That she knows within her soul.
Her mind feeds her the thoughts,
But the body has grown so cold.
Ecstasy, Euphoria,
Pain and regret.
All emotions she once felt.
But now theres not any left.
Her heart is beating,
Alive and true.
But inside her soul,
She looks so blue.
She thinks she cannot be alive,
For she feels nothing,
She is so numb,
About everything.
Indifference engulfs her,
To the point of no return,
She puts her hand into the fire,
And yet it does not burn.
She cuts her hand,
No blood she finds.
“That can’t be possible,”
Her conscience reminds.
She sees the mirror,
Upon the wall.
The one that looks so familiar,
and so does the hall.
She walks up to it,
It starts to fall.
She realizes this is her only way back,
back to it all.
Quickly jumping into it,
Before it shatters into pieces of glass.
She tried to go back home,
And thankfully she made it quite fast.
To again feel love and pain,
No longer to pass,
Through the labrynth of illusions,
inside the looking glass.

sometimes you make me sad Girlie. Smile once in awhile please. Your poetry is beautiful as always. I often think if only we could type in words like we think how much easier it would be to write.
wesley- thanks, I appreciate the nice words from you. You are a sweetheart!
Scott- lo siento! but I cannot help how I feel. Didn't mean to make you feel sad....thank you for the comment. I love writing so very much, if I was not able to write I think I would drive myself insane. Its the only way I can release my thoughts and feelings so freely....=)
Its sad but very beautiful, rhythmic. You have maintained the flow very well.
Nice poem. Glad she made it back home before the mirror broke quick, fast and in a hurry.
Your work is so musical and enjoyable. Thank you
Happy to be feeling. Happy to be on this side of the glass. Thank you for the vivid pictures you paint, JJ
Great one! I can see you in every poem you write which is amazing...

Lost Dutchman- I love your hubs so very much, so to get such a compliment from you is very nice! thanks!
Chica, You make PTSD sound romantic. Seriously, you make the numbness come alive (which is pretty hard to do when writing about the absence of feeling!). I hope your feelings reawaken, my dear friend. (((PACHUCA))) Hugs to you, MM
thanks muchacha~ you are such a sweetie! I am so happy you enjoyed it, and felt it too! ((HUGS BACK))-JJ
You have a great understanding of your deep feelings, not many do. Most people go through life and only acknowledge their feeling on the surface. Very Nice.
It would seem as though you wrote this for all of us whom felt this way during sometime or another. Well done. JJ, I hope you are fairing better with your lost, it has been awhile, but you express such healing through your words. Very well done.
It takes a great understanding of emotion and words to write sadness beautifully. From beginning to end, this is something I could understand not only in a poetic form, but soulfully. Very, Very beautiful.
AIDY- Thank you so much....I am doing better now.
Tswilkins- I really appreciate your kind words. I can only hope I have a great understanding on my emotions.....thanks for such a lovely compliment!
