If you've recently discovered you have fungus under your toe nails or finger nails, you're probably looking for a nail fungus remover. And technically there is no such thing. There are some remedies and treatments, but they don't always work too well. Those that do work well take quite a bit of time removing the nail fungus.

Fungus is a bacteria that lives inside everyone. It's usually controlled by other, "good" bacteria that also lives in our bodies. When things go wrong in the body though, or conditions simply become ripe for them, fungus can develop in a variety of places. The most common place for nail fungus is under the toe nails.

Now, technically the one thing that could be considered a nail fungus remover is to have the nails themselves removed by surgery. This is not usually a desirable option for most people though.

There are prescription drugs though, which act as nail fungus removers by simply killing the fungus off over time. These drugs are expensive, and they can have some severe side effects, but they often work well for most people.

Other popular ways to remove nail fungus involve the use of herbs, topical ointments and creams, or other unconventional folk remedy style methods.

Listerine for instance, is a well known antiseptic mouthwash which can be purchased at almost any store in America. It has been known to work quite well as a nail fungus remover for many people. Simply spread some on your infected nails once or twice each day, or soak your nails in the Listerine daily to start killing the fungus.

Distilled vinegar is another popular home remedy which has been known to work well as a nail fungus remover. Some people can apply vinegar to the infected nails directly, but if it irritates your skin simply mix one part vinegar with one part water. Apply this to your nails or soak your nails in it at least once or twice a day until the fungus has been removed completely.

Apple cider vinegar also works, and in some cases it works better than the distilled vinegar does. Apple cider vinegar not only removes fungus, but it helps to exfoliate your skin so removing dead skin and debris is easier. And removing these helps the fungus removal process, because the treatment can reach the fungus better when there is not a lot of dead skin and debris blocking it.

Some people swear by an over the counter medication called Monostat as a great nail fungus remover. This medicine is made to treat women's vaginal yeast infections, but since nail fungus is a yeast infection to, the medication often works when rubbed on the infected nails at least once or twice each day.

A popular herb that's used as a nail fungus remover is called Tea Tree Oil. This comes from a plant in Australia, and it has powerful antiseptic properties. This helps to kill the nail fungus when applied externally. Put it on your nails once or twice each day until the fungus is fully gone.
